The Mario Opera has been around since last year, but I didn't hear of it until today, so I figured it's worth mentioning. The rock opera was created by Jonathan Mann and first performed at the California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita in May, 2005.

It's kinda cool, though very rough (think more college skit) and the singing is painful, like Brian "I Love Rock and Roll" Crecente painful.
