Proving once again that men (or at least men who watch Spike TV) like their violence packaged in spandex pants, Madden NFL '07 has grabbed the award for the "Game with the Most Game" category in the Guy's Choice awards. The show doesn't premiere until the 13th of June, but is this really a spoiler for those who wanted to watch the awards? The only other contender was World of Warcraft (which, don't get me wrong, is a popular game, but most of the award categories were geared towards the FHM genre, so I'm not sure it had a fighting chance). Spike TV probably already had the award engraved and didn't want to bother changing it. But it did get me thinking - what is considered a "manly" game these days? You know, without opening up that whole "boy vs. girls" can of worms. Kim Phu More »

1UP seems to think it does, but their source (the official Nintendo forums) doesn't quite sound definitive. I'm hoping that it does, as that level of real-time feedback would represent a cool new level of detail in online gaming, but since I'm Wii-less (and Madden-less) right now, I can't confirm it. More »

How fast can EA race to the bottom of the dung pile? Coming right off an opening salvo trying to establish themselves as the scumbag kings of microcontent by way of selling cheat codes or in-game money as Marketplace downloads, EA are now selling tutorials over Xbox Live, rebranding them "video strategy guides." More »

When EA released Madden NFL 07, it was full of at least one bug that was a pretty astonishing screw up: players don't fatigue at all. Or are they? Apparently, the players are fatiguing, but the UI just doesn't even bother to register it. More »

Every Madden cover-boy has met with horrible end, a disastrous calamity. The cover, they say, those who know, that the cover is cursed! GIANT Mag's Scott Stein sat down with current Madden poster player Shaun Alexander and asked him how he beats the curse. "I pretty much have to play every game, don't I?" said Alexander. "Plus I open up about ten or eleven umbrellas inside the house every day, and it kind of balances everything out." We've seen Alexander's on field skills, but what about his gaming abilities? Stein writes: More »
