Earlier this year Splash Damage character artist Jon Fletcher crafted a magnificently twisted take on Mario for Polycount's Brawl contest. Now he gives us his twisted take on Mario's lanky brother and a splash screen for a game we'll never play but desperately want to. More »

So John Krasinski plays Jim Halpert on the office. Surprisingly enough,
in one of the episodes in season 4, he is wearing a fake mustache, and
thats where my geeky 6th sense kicks in and I notice, he looks a lot like Luigi. Ok, granted the mustache is pointing downwards while
Luigi’s are pointing upwards. Still, am I the only one who sees the
similarity here? <a href="http://kotaku.com/5005349/" title="Click here to read more about

Luigi is mad as hell and he's not going to take it anymore! This vengeful cross stitch has shown up on one of my favorite video game craft websites SpriteStitch.com and was created by the site's owner John. If you'd like, you can even make it your very own as the piece is available for purchase on eBay for a mere $10 (for now). Since I'm poor, I'll be sending this along to Maggie along with an email begging her to make me one for free. If she doesn't agree, I'll simply blackmail her into it with those incriminating photos from the Kotaku Kompany Kristmas party. Oh wait, those were of me. Damn, I really need to stop drinking whiskey... More »

What would a day on Kotaku be without the obligatory Super Smash Bros. post? Not being one to fly in the face of tradition, I bring you these nice quality videos of a few fights for your perusal courtesy Gametrailers.com. Displayed above we have Luigi vs Diddy Kong on the Luigi's Mansion stage. The detail in the mansion looks great and I look forward to playing on this stage a lot. After the jump you can check out Solid Snake vs Pit and Bowser vs Ness. <a href="http://kotaku.com/351974/super-smash-bros-brawl-battle-gameplay" title="Click here to read more about Super Smash Bros. The iconic Kewpie dolls go way back — like to the early 1900's. (So old!) In Japan, the character is used as the mascot for, are you ready, Kewpie Mayonnaise. So, if you've ever wondered what your favorite Nintendo characters would look like as Kewpie dolls, consider that curiosity satisfied. They were found in Fukuoka, Japan and will give us nightmares. One Hong Kong retailer gives us a taste of just what Mario and Luigi would look like if Miyamoto went mad and decided to co-brand the franchise with Nightmare on Elm Street flicks. Seriously, these plush toys are freaky—we're talking clown freaky, or even Cher's cheeks no longer move when she talks, freaky (people still listen to Cher, right?). Plus, we're finding it more than a little gross that the curtains don't match the nose drapes, if you know what we mean. <a href="http://kotaku.com/347642/scary-scary-mario-bros-bootlegs" title="Click here to read more about Scary, Scary Mario Bros. The bassist for Japanese speed metal band Sex Machineguns Kenjirou Murai has moved to trashing to bleeps. After working on the Nana soundtrack album, Murai joined forces with a professional his new group is called PSG, short for Picopico Sound Project. It's even roped in cosplayers (above) as "vocal talent." There are loads of these retro sound bit chip bands, so how does this band stand apart? Just look at those outfits! Here's a nice little find for you Nintendo collectors, especially for those of you who like MIB. Well, technically I suppose the MIB has been ruined by the signature of the genius Miyamoto, but what are you gonna do? This is a boxed set of Nintendo figurines gotten from Japan's awesome Club Nintendo and signed by miyaoto himself complete with little quotes for each of the characters. The set in this form is not available in the U.S. (although you can get the individual ones at the Nintendo World Store) and of course the signature makes it ultra rare. At the time of the writing of this article, there were six bids bring the price up to a reasonable $46 although the reserve has not been met yet. If you want this precious, precious Nintendo treasure for your very own, you have until July 25. More »

Too cute! Back in 2002, these Nintendo character bobbleheads were released. Yup, Mario, Yoshi, Luigi and Bowser were all immortalized as 17cm tall statues with giant heads that bobble. They even have the official Nintendo stamp of approval. Ah, 2002 was a very good year. More »

Film maker Chris Preksta hit us on the tips line to let us know about his short, made in the E! True Hollywood Story fashion a few years back, The Luigi Story. It's an impressive piece of work, one that chronicles the sad rise to fame of that other plumber, consistently second-billed in Nintendo releases. Well, there was Luigi's Mansion, but I was hoping we'd just all try our hardest to forget about that GameCube tech demo. Michael McWhertor More »

A while back we brought you news that NCSX was going to be selling these awesome Mario and Luigi hats so you could wear them around town and elicit odd stares from strangers. As a matter of fact, NCSX thought they were selling hats too. But, when the shipment arrived it turned out these hats weren't hats at all, but pillows! Still pretty cool, but if i had been one of those that pre-ordered one of these I'd be pissed. But at least now you can put these on your couch an elicit stares from your friends rather than the cruel nameless hordes. Flynn De Marco More »

Blame the plastic cups. American college students know, love and live "Beer Pong." It's a drinking game in which players attempt to bounce a ping pong in their opponent's cup, forcing them to imbibe it. I've always considered Mario's Italian accent to be on a par with the likes of Chico Marx; Not authentic by any means, but close enough for Americans. Brett Simmons directed this funny spoof for a fictitious Mario and Luigi Italian Lesson plan featuring his friends Tristan and Anthony. The opening credits state that this is "Tristan and Anthony's Italian Project" leading me to believe this might have been created as part of a school assignment. As live action Mario and Luigi spoofs go, this one is pretty clever, or at least that's my opinion. I'll let you judge for yourself. Flynn De Marco More »

White Ninja is one of the best comics on the web today, mainly because I could, if pressed, draw better than they do. Fortunately Scott Bevan and Kent Earle can do more with their crappy little drawings and a few choice words than many comics with high-quality artists could ever hope to do. Plus, the main character is a ninja, albeit a very 'special' one. More »

Back during the Japan Wii, a dude in a Luigi outfit, handed out the first console and posed for pictures and then got booted in a hurry. But, questions remain: Who was this Luigi? Why was he escorted out? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?! The costume was far too good to be an amateur. Moreover, how could this individual have gotten access to Yodobashi Camera. Logic tells us that it had to be an inside job, someone connected with either Yodobashi or Nintendo. The why, the how and the wtf still remain unanswered. An otaku conspiracy, how cute. Brian Ashcraft More »

While American console launches are rife with shootings, muggings, stampedes, and generally poor displays of human behavior, the Japanese console launches are, at worst, a display of gross otaku fashion and greasiness. Well, I suppose there's that whole mafia hiring of homeless dudes to camp out for PS3s and Wiis thing. More »

Dress up your Ipod Nano with the awesome art of Bob Dob! Bob's artwork is incredible and I would love to have a copy of any of his pieces. His painting of Mario and Donkey Kong sharing a frosty mug of beer entitled "Cheers" is one of my personal favorites. U.K. website, Urban Retro, is featuring one of Dob's pieces, "Rough Night Out" with Mario and Luigi's mug shots as skins for your iPod Nano. The holidays are just around the corner and what could be a better gift for your favorite gamer (who happens to have an Ipod Nano) than these terrifyingly twisted depictions of everyone's favorite plumber and his possibly gay brother. Check out Dob's "Cheers" painting after the jump. Flynn De Marco More »
