I downloaded Light Bikes to my iPhone last night, I was surprised to find how fun it was in short blasts.
The 99 cent iGame has you maneuvering a light bike in a third-person perspective ala Tron against three computer-controlled light bikes. The graphics are fairly basic, but it works. You hold the iPhone sideways to play and to turn you tap either the left or right side of the screen. There's also a boost you can tap in the bottom center of the screen.
While the single player, which comes with three difficulty settings and is played in best-of-three or best-of-five rounds, is fairly fun, where this game really delivers is the multiplayer.
The local play has you hold the phone vertically and splits the screen. So you are playing head-to-head on the same phone against your friend as well as two computer-controlled opponents. This may sound awkward, but it's actually quite a bit of fun and, it turns out, facing your opponent while you play cranks things up a bit.
The game also offers a Wi-Fi mode which allows you or you and a friend to take on other people wirelessly. Unfortunately, as with many online multiplayer iPhone games, I found it hard to find an opponent to play. In fact I never found an opponent to play.
For a buck, this game is a steal.
