Today marks the 25th 35th (oops) anniversary of me popping out of my mother's uterus, and to celebrate, Activision has released a playable demo of the game of the movie Kung Fu Panda for me to play! The 810MB demo features the Jack Black-voiced panda Po taking on the evil forces of the snow leopard Tai Lung. According to Larry Hryb's website, the demo is only available in the US and Canada currently, with other regions getting it closer to the film's release. Kung Fu Panda is due out in theaters in early June in the states, so either they are supremely confident about the quality of the title or figure kids might need something else to play in between bouts of jacking cars and stabbing hookers. I really want to watch Kung Fu Panda when it comes out, but I'm not sure how much I want to PLAY Kung Fu Panda. I think maybe it would have been better if they went for a straight Street Fighter knock-off instead of another action fighter, button-masher. More »

Activision has snapped up the rights to Dreamworks' next big animated film, Kung Fu Panda, which concerns a crack martial arts team that encounters all kinds of wackiness when the fat, goofy guy shows up. It stars Jack Black as the voice of the titular Panda, possibly because Chris Farley is dead. Activision is giving the movie the full console treatment, with Luxoflux working on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, Xpec handling the Wii and PS2, Beenox taking on the PC game, and good old Vicarious Visions handling DS duties. You'll get to play 7 different characters, each with upgradeable abilities, across 13 levels, along with co-op and versus multiplayer. Kids will eat this one up...after all, it features "Bodacious Humor". That's like, five times better than your average, run-of-the-mill humor. More »
