Sure, it's not the most exciting part of Kinect's launch later this year, but Video Kinect may ultimately prove to be one of the device's most practical applications.
It's essentially Skype, allowing people to video chat over Xbox Live, with the addition of a few neat features like media sharing and local weather reports. Because Kinect can recognise and track faces, it can also follow you around the room if you get up or move around.
Provided picture and sound quality is at least on a par with Skype, I can see myself using this. Beats juggling my laptop with a cup of tea on those long-distance calls.
