GoNintendo has managed to get their hands on a Best Buy employee missive that states all Wii shipments are to be held until Dec. 17th. The reasoning behind this, according to the bulletin, is three fold:
- This is the last competitive weekend for holiday shopping which encourages a large amount of traffic to our retail stores once customers realize the system is available.
- Customers shopping for other products will have the ability and be encouraged to purchase the gaming console.
- The system is more readily available then other competing game systems.
It goes on to say that quantities will vary between stores, but a minimum of 40 consoles are guaranteed.
Even more interesting and perhaps not surprising, is the paragraph about the PS3 that says:
SCEA has made an announcement that no other units will be shipped in addition to the units already being manufactured. Stores that do receive small shipments are not allowed to hold the units... Failure to follow these procedures will be dealt with accordingly.
Be warned Best Buy employees, your superiors are ready to throw the hammer down on your ass should you choose to be a PS3 hoarder. Make the jump to read the details for yourself.
