Over the course of several years I've painstakingly migrated all of my gaming and electronics equipment into a single area, an impassable tangle of wires and blinking lights, all in the name of making sure I had a stable, wired connection at all times. Once I got everything just right, Diamond Multimedia sent me the Powerline Internet AV Kit, a pair of devices that turn any power outlet into a wired network connection. More »

Making a consumer recommendation on a video game is rather simple: new ones typically cost $60, so the question is whether the thing is worth that. Hardware and peripherals are a bit trickier as a manufacturer can pile on features and conveniences, jacking up the price but, inevitably, making a recommendable luxury. More »

One PlayStation 3 title just did some serious business in Japan. Tales of Xillia, the latest in Namco's long-running Tales of series, has already moved a half-million overseas. That's a pretty damn good start for a PS3 game. More »

Sony has a new PlayStation Portable. Budget priced at €99 (and currently only for Europe), the PSP E-1000 does what every other PSP does—it just doesn't have built-in Wi-Fi. And it's matte! Apparently unwilling to give up the older PSP platform despite launching the PS Vita successor next year, Sony has just announced a new regular PSP that doesn't use discs, <s>but only supports downloads</s>. [Update: I misheard the announcement. I'm hearing now the new model doesn't have Wi-Fi, which would certainly imply it doesn't have downloads. So it's UMD-based? Andriasang says a new PS3 configuration is coming, but don't get your hopes too far up. The changes concern its power draw, weight, and the removal of LED lights. The hard drive for the CECH-3000B model still is 320GB, according to a retail source Andriasang quoted. The console cuts power consumption to 200W from 230W and drops in weight to 2.6 kg (5.7 lbs) from 3 kg (6.6 lbs). Pricing remains the same for the 320GB model and will make its way to shelves once the current stock runs out. More »

A game about stripping the clothes off of vampires in otaku haven Akihabara is Japan's bestselling game right now, the curious and cleverly titled Akiba's Strip for PSP. That game easily beat the new Dead or Alive and Valve's Portal 2 overseas. More »
