Free Radical bossman David Doak is none too pleased with the British government. As he watches the British development scene get smaller and smaller, and sees more independant studios either swallowed up by foreign publishers and platform holders or go out of business, he thinks the British government is to blame.
Here's an industry that 20 years ago we led the world in - through bedroom rock-and-roll development on the early home computers - and now there's a very real chance that what is now a real profession is going to be driven out of the UK because they don't make any concessions to it.They love the British film industry and stuff and are prepared to give it money, and yet they'll stand around watching videogame developers losing staff.
Man's got a point. How come guys like Psygnosis and the Bitmap Brothers drop off the map while we have to suffer through 147 Hugh Grant romantic comedies? So not fair.
