It is a computer! It is a super computer! A super expensive super computer! Terra Soft has developed a complete Linux Operating System for the PLAYSTATION 3. Lead Software Engineer Owen Stampflee of Terra Soft Solutions says:
From the days of the Commodore 64 to modern overclocked and water cooled home computers, a battle has raged between dedicated game boxes and home computers for highest quality game play. PLAYSTATION 3 provides an industry first exceptional Linux OS experience ... and Terra Soft the first Linux OS.
The company's CEO, Kai Staats, states that the software will be available at Terra Soft's online store and selected retailers and hopes that it will eventually be bundled with the PS3 in the future. And to show how official this is, the Terra Soft press release even capitalizes PLAYSTATION 3.
