An Xbox apparently blew up in the face of a man in Sweden, despite the fact that the console had been fitted with a recall replacement cord from Microsoft.
Anahi Reinoso told a Swedish newspaper that he got sparks in his face and that his apartment smelled of smoke.
The Microsoft-hating Register is saying that the exploding Xbox is proof that Microsoft's mammoth power cord recall was in fact a stopgap measure put in motion because of an internal issue with Xboxes which can cause fires.
Microsoft denies the whole broken solder joints claim, saying that the recall was not related to anything other than a power cord problem. The exploding Xbox? Microsoft says it was a freak accident, besides what's a few facial burns between friends.
