Lara Croft's updated first adventure has been in stores since late last month for the Xbox 360, and many of you chose not to pick it up, either not giving a damn or just plain laziness. Good news for the latter group! Now Tomb Raider Anniversary is available for download via Xbox Live in two, 1200 point downloads. Unless my math is off, and it generally is, that comes out to around $30 for the game, $10 off the retail price. The downside? If you've not upgraded to a large 360 hard drive, the 3GB of space this baby takes up is a huge chunk of hard disk real estate, if you're so inclined, the game is listed under Tomb Raider: Legend in the new games section of the download service. An excellent way to cope with post Thanksgiving lethargy...or just general American lethargy for that matter. We yanks love our sitting on our asses.

I vaguely remember that you had to own Tomb Raider Legend to get the downloaded version. Is this still true? If so, I think it should be mentioned
@vizion: Yeah I heard you need Legend also...
I second the first question, (What?) Do you need Tomb Raider Legend to Play this?
Well seeing as the download comes out to 3GB and you'd presumably need Legend solely for the engine and resources, I'd say they decided to include the engine and resources with the download.
So I'm guessing you don't need Legend.
I'm confused here MIKE. I'm feeling like an idiot because I know 1200pt is $15 USD and I'm wondering if your math was really off or if I'm just misreading your statement.
OH ok, off to reading comprehension for me :( After re-reading it about 5 (no joke) times, I finally picked up the "...in two". sorry about that :)
They released this at such a bad time. I have so many other games to play right now that this will have to wait, and prices never seem to decrease for stuff on live. Therefore once I'm ready to play it sometime next summer; I will just get the cheaper/used disc version.
I dont understand...you lot are saying you need to own the game before paying the privilege of 2400 points to own it a second time???
Uncharted for 360 confirmed!
I can't seem to get the Croft Manor achievement. I completed a speed run of Croft Manor in under 17 mins and when the level stat screen popped up at the end of the level it said 'Time Trial Completed: No'. Even though I completed it under the time limit. Not cool.
Anybody actually get that achievement? Or is it a bug in the 360 version.
@maxp:
No, we're saying you have to own the previous Tomb Raider game called Tomb Raider: Legend. The Anniversary game is running on the same engine and it was originally said that you need to own the Legend game on disc in order to utilize the downloaded version of Anniversary.
We're all just wondering if this still holds true
$30 seems a lot for this, since we all played it already, no? And where's the challenge if the controls actually work? :)
@lionkitten: For a fun challenge, then, ask your friends to randomly remap the controls after each level.
Or, play the game on Jainist difficulty - no killing anything.
20 GB HDD ftw! 18 usable..
So, do you need the original or not?
And Fahey, can you explain why that picture is labelled "tranni"? I'm staring hard, but I can't see it...
You need Tomb Raider: Legend! It says right in the info on XBLM.
@Meldy:
You're reading too much into it. The "tranni" refers to "TRAnni" which refers to "Tomb Raider Anniversary". So no, Laura Croft does not have a penis in that picture. You can let your imagination fill in the gaps.
Either I've just ruined your joke, which isn't that funny, or I did a terrific job at explaining the picture name.
2,400 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much for DLC
Besides I'm right in thinking there's a 250 gamerscore limit on DLC, right?
Requires TR:Legend to run.
Yeah or maybe we already bought it for PS2 because they said (at the time) it WASN'T coming out for 360.
I may or may not get this game at retail (Alot of other good games out) but at a lower price. No point in spending that much ( for me) if I alredy have it for PS2. It's just for the graphical upgrade. The Wii version is tempting but it's the same deal. The box cover is sexy as heck though. A wonder what a white background can do to change the whole look of the cover art.
Oh, the irony!
Sony's unofficial pin-up girl gaming mascot back from the glory days of PS1 now gracing a rival's download service without it being on PS Network!
Next it'll SEGA selling it's soul to the devil by producing a Nights game for a Sony console. Oh, hang on a minute...
3 gigs seems like the full retail game
GAME have this game for the 360 at £24.99..therfor you wouldnt need TR:legends disc..or the 3 gig space on your hard drive,if you dont have a credit card,then it will cost you about £35-40 to buy two 2100 cards to get the 2400 points needed....so i will wait and get the retail version a little later on.
I got this game for the PC... it was too hard....
Tomb Raider: Anniversary DLC in a nut shell:
* Tomb Raider: Legend required. Disc must be in 360 to play.
* Total cost is 2400 MSP for the two packs, each containing two episodes.
* In local currencies that's US$30, AU$40, GB£20.40, EU€27.92.
* For comparison the RRP (Recommended Retail Price) for TR:A in Australia is AU$99.
* Achievements? Still unknown at this point. Likely just 250GS added on to Tomb Raider: Legend.
Wasn't the Croft manner going to be a FREE download???
For those that have a Gamecrazy store near them in the US (usually attached to a Hollywood Video) the normal price for the 360 disk version of Anniversary is $30 at that chain.

Yes. This information is accurate. Guys, look at the download on the market place. The download says that you DO NEED "TOMB RAIDER: LEGENDS" in order to play both of the "2 episode" downloads. So hopefully there is no more debate whether you need Tomb Raider: Legends or not.
TOMB RAIDER: LEGENDS IS REQUIRED!
Wow, too bad I traded in TR: Legend. Thanks for the info, guys.
I would consider a HD upgrade if the 120GB came with $80 worth of XBLA Marketplace points. But $155+ for a hard drive? No chance.
I am really surprised you have not updated this story with more facts, which QUBE provided. Here is the last bit: If you download it you get ONLY 250 Gamerscore because of the DLC restriction from Microsoft. The retail disc obviously has 1000 Gamerscore. I have confirmed this with my Eidos contact.
