Taking a break from the PlayStation 3 Metal Gear game, Hideo Kojima swung by the Xbox 360 Lounge opening yesterday in Tokyo. While the respected designer might have pitched his tent in the PS3 camp at the Tokyo Game Show, something else could be afoot. Where the designer truly stands isn't clear. His Konami-backed Kojima Productions is up and running, and he very well could be going the "gun-for-hire" route as apparently Electronic Gaming Mag is reporting in their December issue that Kojima is working on the Revolution, And possibly on a classic Nintendo franchise. Since Microsoft's already "bagged" three of Japan's best developers (Hironobu Sakaguchi, Yoshiki Okamoto and Testuya Mizuguchi) Kojima could be next in line for exclusive 360 content. Here's a round-up of Kojima's memorable next-gen quotes.
"The support of Microsoft in Japan is really strong, too, so everyone in Japan has a good feeling."
"My impression is, for PS3, Sony is aiming for a very high level. I'm not sure if everyone can live up to that high standard that Sony is expecting. For Xbox 360, it's a little bit more down to earth, more realistic so people maybe can join easily to start creating on the 360."
"If the game creators and the users want to have a great steak for their anniversary, they go maybe to PS3. But if they want great dinner, great steak with their family, a little bit more casual during the weekends, they might select Xbox 360. Or why not have a great steak at your house everyday, they might choose Revolution. So my impression of the battle between the consoles is, it's not about what kind of dinner it is. It's more about how much the dinner will be."
And I'm sure dinner the 360 Lounge opening was free.
