Will Microsoft "win" this generation? According to Microsoft rage-aholic and problem perspirer Steve Ballmer, who once said to Fortune, "In every other generation, the first guy to 10 million consoles was the number one seller in the generation" they will. Ballmer's colleague Peter Moore thinks they'll hit that number (or exceed it) by the end of the year.
Moore told news outlet Bloomberg yesterday that:
All indications are that we came off a very strong Thanksgiving holiday. They key is we're in stock, we're available, we're delivering well to retail. Certainly the consumer is recognizing the fact that we have a great price point as well as 160 games available and that flies in the face of our competition.
Guess that just about wraps it up for Sony and Nintendo! Have your desk cleaned out by five, Reggie. You too, Tretton.
The only bad news for MS is that Bill Gates said that they'd have a ten million console headstart when the competition launched. Close enough?
