While working through the details of the Nintendo Wii for my Kotaku and Rocky stories I noticed that none of them mentioned the fact that the Wii would be able to play DVD movies anymore. A quick check with Nintendo confirmed that the console will no longer support that feature. Kinda sucks for all of those people hoping to kill two birds with one stone, but I suspect most people own DVD players nowadays so I guess it's not a huge deal.
