It begins!

Three weeks of waiting is almost over, with the Wii going on sale in Australia in about two hours. Accompanied by my intrepid companion Soda, it was time to get in on the action.

Full of piss and vinegar, we headed into the centre of Sydney to soak up the launch atmosphere. I was ready for anything, and got...a whole lot of nothing.

9pm, and we hit Pitt Street Mall, Sydney City's main shopping strip to check out the Centrepoint EB store. And it was...closed. OK, not the best start seeing as the launch was only three hours away, but persevere we must. FOR YOU, LOYAL READERS. WE PERSEVERE FOR YOU.

EB Galeries was our next stop, and most important, as it's where my pre-order is. Expecting a bigger crowd for a bigger store, we arrive at around 9:15 and...bupkis. I don't even think the staff were there yet. The big JB Hi-Fi next door was also closed up.
