As I depart the Big Apple (where I've been reporting from all weekend) I leave you with this list of games coming out this week. Mario Party looks like it might be some fun with the addition of the Wii remote mechanic and I'd like to see how the 2d to 3d Crush is for the PSP. Other than that, I can satisfy myself with finishing up Silent Hill 2 which for some reason I decided to haul out of the mothballs. Anyone going to round out a holiday weekend by picking one or two of these up?
- Mario Party 8 (WII) It's the video game that's a board game with mini-games.
- Halo 2 (PC)
Now with less ass. - Forza Motorsport 2 (X360)
The Xbox 360 gets it's dose of Forza racing. - Shadowrun (X360, PC)
Magic and guns, 360s and PCs join together for a new multiplayer experience - Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (WII)
Nintendo brings Mortal Kombat to their console marking the beginning of the Wii bloodletting game parade. - Crush (PSP)
It's like Super Paper Mario on the PSP just without the paper or the Mario. The super remains to be seen. - Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm (PS2)
A little 2D old school PRG action. I really, really hope this has that silver ball that puts spikes in your brain. - Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia (X360, PC)
Fight for control of the suburbs against monster hordes. No, not soccer moms, actual monsters.

Comments
Don't you mean "Forza 2 Edition", or "ShadowRun Edition", seriously, Mario Party 8 is like the wost game coming out this week.
Probably Mario Party 8. I've also been eyeing Halo 2 for PC.......
That Halo 2 description is made of win!! LOL!!!
MP8 FTW! I'm actually quite excited :)
I do like the mario party titles, but come on, 8? already? I haven't played all of them, but havent they only spanned 3 systems so far, thats like 2.7 per system or something.
I'm not even halfway through Atelier Iris 1.
I have Atelier Iris 2 still wrapped.
I will purchase Atelier Iris 3.
Such is life for an RPG whore.
Shadowrun for me. I thought about Mario Party 8 but since most Wii games seem to be going the mini-game route recently i'm sick of them.
@Mr.Digg:
I was gonna say the same thing. I have a feeling that Forza 2 is gonna push more units then MP8. Then again, most people will buy MP8 cause the Wii barely gets any NOT crap games. And it actually looks quite fun.
I also have a strange feeling that Halo 2 isn't gonna do that well. Mostly cause of the 'vista only' bs behind it.
Man Crush looks not so great...first time I've seen some footage...all the chat made me quite excited about that too...
@NeoNess: I know what you mean, although I have at least opened the Atelier Iris 2 box, though I also haven't played it.
@Mr.Digg: Shadowrun? Not so much. I'd agree with Forza 2 at least though. Shadowrun, honestly looks like it might alienate some people from trying it out... Multiplayer online only, shooter based on the Shadowrun setting many would rather have used differently?
Mario Party 8, regardless of how many other iterations it has, will probably see more life than Shadowrun. Forza 2 though at least looks like a quality racer, and I'm sure some Xboxers could go for another racing fix.
@aden.exe: Yeah, but the big deal surrounding this version is the fact that the last couple of Mario Parties were on the anti-innovative Gamecube. Now that the king of Mini Games has arrived on Wii we can expect more serious games... right? Right!?
Crush is going to be teh awesome! I can't wait and only $30 too!
I picked up Kingdom Hearts II for $10 today. I'll probably be playing that and Guild Wars over the next week.
I want to pick up Mario Party, but unfortunately I'm too unpopular to actually get the full benefit. Maybe if they ever get around to making it online-capable I'll consider it.
I guess Mario party 8 Im just curious what the heck of innovations they did with the wiimote and nunchuk...I hope it is fun cause I only played MP1 and MP2, the others I din't bother.
I will definitely be picking up Crush, the fact it gets compared to Super Paper Mario when Crush does way more with the mechanic is sad.
I think it is insane that there are now 8 mario parties. The last one I played was on my friends gamecube and I was like why even back then.
Got Atelier 3 coming in the mail, pre-order style. Art books are nice :)
Mario Party, probably, since I'm overdue for a Wii party. I haven't held one in about two months. Wii Sports drinking games are the best.
@JoeyOliver:"Wii Sports drinking games are the best."
sounds like a plan to me!
One of these days they're going to release a single player Mario Party because you lost all of your friends due to eight Mario Parties.
Well, somebody's buying the Mario Party games, or else they wouldn't have made so many, would they?
You don't say.
I'm gonna need to see a few reviews of Shadowrun and make sure the online community sticks around for more than a month before I plop down cash for it.
@bobeotm: Too bad it'll probably always be remembered as 'That Super Paper Mario-like game'. Unless there's some sort of mass purchase of this thing, it'll go down as maybe one tenth as popular as SPM will be. The game itself, while it seems like it has a neat concept, looks as if someone threw in colored lighting and textures reminiscent of horrible Quake 2 mappings. Hopefully the game play is good stuff.
@futurebiblehero: I hear the next Halo's going to be a single-player RPG. Without guns. Because that makes as much sense as your statement does.
@ampillion: I hear the next Halo is going to be a single player RPG, because that makes as much sense as this new Shadowrun atrocity.
I'm really anticipating reviews for Forza 2. The demo was great, but I'm really concentrated on the online playability. I hope it picks up some good scores.
Every mario Party sells over a million, this one will be no different
@dowingba: Rumor has it, Final Fantasy XIII is actually going to be a financial sim game, where you influence moogle bankers to invest in startup companies like chocobo racing leagues, materia mining facilities, and gil farming consortiums. Then you keep track of your finances, stock investments, all while trying to root out scandals and sway potential clients with text-menu dialogs.
Sorry, it's a rainy Sunday, and until it lets up I can't get my jog in. So off to play more Galaga.
Forza 2 for sure. If not for the racing, the for the customization.
And wow, the trailer for Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm on their web site has some bad ass music.
I'm going to give Shadowrun a rent, and depending on how the replay value of it looks, I'll decide whether to buy it or not.
Shadow Run looks like it could be crap, I'm not really caring for the look of it at all, the animation especially looks meh and just not seeming interested in it, maybe rent.
Crush getting for sure.
And ugh Mario Party 8?
For me this is also the Forza 2 Edition... I´ve been waiting for this game since I got the damn wireless wheel and now... it´s here!!!. The demo already showed me that the wheel works great with the game, so... that was money well spent.
Me and some friends played the fuck out of Mario Party 7 this weekend in anticipation.
Also looking very forward to Shadowrun. I beta tested the game since the beginning. I can say this FPS is shaping up to be fantastic and a definite under-the-radar hit.
Forza 2 is on my must buy list. Shadowrun and Halo2 maybe when I upgrade my PC.
MP8....not worth buying a Wii for it. Ill wait until SSBB and get the system along with all the games I missed.
Forza 2 >>>>>>>>>>> MP8. How is MP8 even remotely exciting. It's the 8th version of a rehashed game.
@MadChad: Welcome to videogaming, MadChad. I'm glad to see you've decided to join us in this hobby, glad to see someone new to this wonderful entertainment hobby.
You guys are just jealous that you can't find a Wii anywhere. MP8 doesn't look that bad. As long as the controls work out good. And how could you say that it is rehashed? It's a totally new control scheme. All I know is I can't wait for the "rehashed" version of Resident Evil 4 OMG!
@trmn8r: Umm... you can already play resident evil 4, get the pretty cheap gamecube version, unless you are REALLY needing some tacked on waggle.
Halo 2, WHEN I have money again (probably never =/ gah)
@bobeotm: I'm sorry, I know you were just trying to be snarky, but using a remote to point an aiming reticule counts as "tacked on waggle" now? The phrase makes sense for something like Zelda, in which your primary attack is controlled by "waggling" the remote (which, I'll add, was nonetheless fun and engaging), but aiming by pointing is a deeper interface change. To head off comments about future games, so is any control mechanic that provides a one-to-one ratio between movement of the remote and movement on screen. The "waggle" complaint makes sense for interface designs in which shaking the remote simply replaces a button-click, but I don't think that applies here.
Is that guy on the cover the same guy who used to quiz you in paepr mario 64 ?
Forza 2 on Wednesday and maybe Shadowrun if the demo is any good (June 6).
Forza is going to be amazing. I'm not sure why more people aren't foaming at the mouth at this.
hmm... i think i might have to pick up mario party 8. i've never actually played the series except a few times with some friends. seems like a pretty cool party game from what i read about it.
i'm hoping it'll be better than raving rabbids, warioware or smb that came out for the wii tho. those games were interesting, but (from a multiplayer pov) they seemed to be just only mini-games and the lack of competitive gameplay options kinda left me hanging. hopefully throwing in a board with spaces, stars and all that'll make things interesting with mp8.
Ill be getting mario party for some waggle party goodness. I haven't played one since 3 so it should be fun.
This would be the perfect game to introduce online multi-player. Stupid Nintendo.
Crush is good.
Everytime a Nintendo fan goes on and on about how innovative they are, I'll just say "Mario Party 8." That shuts them up real quick.
Oh, and Forza 2 FTMFW. Bow down to the new king of console racing sims. Gran Turismo will look like Crusin' Exotica in comparison. ^_^
Shadowrun is the only must buy for me this week- I beta tested it and I would buy it if it only had stick figure graphics. It is that much fun for me!
Probably rent Mario Party, and I am bad at Forza- so I'll stay away from that.
