Reception for the Warhammer Online beta has been nothing short of a success. That's why Mythic and EA are shutting it down for two months. Wait. What? According to a post on the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Herald from community elf James Nichols, the beta will return to alpha until December, giving Mythic an opportunity to add content, address issues and, in general, polish the thing up while being unmolested by beta testers.
Does this mean Warhammer Online is in a bad spot? Not at all, says WOAR developer Mark Jacobs on the F13 forums.
He addresses player concerns that Mythic are in panic mode, either retrofitting the game for a more World of Warcraft-like experience or dealing with publisher EA meddling in the team's business. Going offline for a couple months is a good thing, he stresses, not reason for seeking the nearest ledge.
The beta is shutting down today, but promises to return in December even beta-ier.
