50 Cent: blood on the sand

THQ Picks Up 50 Cent Off The Ground

No, 50 Cent: Blood On The Sand isn't dead, dead, dead. It's alive! The game, orphaned by Activision Blizzard, has indeed been picked up by publisher THQ, according to a rating by Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification board. That's the part we did get right when we reexamined 50's fate. Honestly, though our interest in 50's music begins and ends at "In Da Club" we can't help but be warmed over by the ridiculousness of Blood On The Sand's debut trailer. It's brilliant.

First Public Day of TGS: Shakey Cam Run Through

Earlier this week I took a leisurely stroll through the halls of Tokyo Game Show videoing the goings-on of booths, their babes and the people who love them. Today it wasn't so leisurely. The mass of attendees tore through the hall shaking the will of smiling booth companions who still, despite the hardships, managed to keep those smile from going upside down. I wouldn't suggest watching if you weren't a fan of Cloverfield... or getting immensely motion sick.

Tokyo Game Show Attendance Plummets Again

There's no doubt that this year's Tokyo Game Show is... a bit underwhelming. Sure, the booth companions continue to be top notch and Kids Corner is hoppin', but almost everyone we've spoken to at the con sees TGS 2008 as something of a dud. Outside of a few PR types who love everything on God's green earth, most folks are meh-ing the Makuhari Messe.

That translates to a drop in attendance of about 11,000 fewer than last year, at least on the first two days of TGS. Why? Metal Gear Solid 4 is out. Final Fantasy XIII is still not playable. Nintendo isn't here. Wada's keynote was a snoozer.

We'll see how the public reacts tomorrow. Brace for impact!

Lets TGS! Oh, Mai, Mai, Mai, Mai, Mai

SNK Playmore knows how to draw a crowd at Tokyo Game Show — just line up five girls in Mai Shirunai cosplay get ups and let the booth babe hungry masses snap dozens and dozens of photos of their perfectly smooth knees. Then, hope that at least one of them will be interested in playing King of Fighters 2002 or Slot Panic on a cell phone.

Resident Evil 5 Co-Op Changes The Game

Taking advantage of our early entry onto the TGS showroom floor this morning, Mike and myself popped over to Sony's booth to play a little Resident Evil 5 co-op. Mike got Chris and a shotgun, I got Sheva and a handgun/sniper rifle, we both got dropped into some African marketplace and had to kill a whole load of zombies. Oh, sorry Capcom PR guy: infected. So, how'd we go? More »

First Hands-on With Street Fighter IV's Sakura

I finally got a chance to check out Street Fighter IV on the Xbox 360 today. More importantly, though, I got to the booth early enough to play a match as both Akuma and Sakura.

I've had plenty of time to play Street Fighter IV both in arcades and at shows, but I'm still blown away with the game's seamless blending of 2D and 3D in an aesthetic that polishes the look of characters I've grown so accustomed to.

I'm typically a Ryu or Ken when I play SF, but Akuma is close enough to their move set that I've played around with him over the years as well. This new Akuma maintains the tattered look of previous versions of the character delivering relatively fast, relatively powerful blasts as he hops around the screen. His moves seem to have remain unchanged, which makes him a great middle option for those of us who tend to cycle between Ken and Ryu when they play.

First Look At Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li Movie Poster

She's turned her brown eyes blue. The first Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li promo pic of actress Kristin Kreuk featured her brown puppy dog eyes (and dirty nose!), but the first official movie poster shows off pale blue eyes. This poster was designed especially for the Tokyo Game Show and dates the movie as simply 2009.

Hit the jump for a first look at the poster and her buns. Her hairy buns.

Bethesda Looking Into Fallout 3 Leak

Were you the one that leaked Fallout 3? Well, you better not be, because Bethesda is looking to find out just who did! Bethesda VP Pete Hines says they've narrowed it down and they're gonna get you!

"We're looking into it. Since we haven't sent out a single disc, it greatly reduces the number of places this might have come from."

So that means it must have been an internal leak (really doubtful) or someone haxored their way in. Me? I like to buy my games (or at the very least own a used retail copy). Nothing beats the smell of opening a new game and displaying it proudly on your bookshelf with the rest of your collection.
