Ubisoft Making (Short) Assassin's Creed Movie

This one's not as messy as last week's news of a Prince of Persia flick - Assassin's Creed is fresh Ubisoft IP, the movie's being made in-house and it's only going to be eight minutes long. Mary Beth Hensen, spokeswoman for Ubisoft:

We may consider doing longer-form films or television sometime in the future. We're basically putting to work the existing creativity of our game developers as well as adding a more traditional cinematic slant to our roster.

So it's a test run of Ubisoft's new film/game relationship, then. She says that it's important game designers have a lot of input into how a movie based off their titles is made, so for now they just want Assassin's Creed's game team to work with some film guys and come up with something little. Test the waters. See how it goes.

It should appear later this year, but not in cinemas - they're looking at things like iTunes, Xbox Live and (I presume) the PlayStation Store as delivery methods for the content. Should be good - eight minutes is about all my withered, beaten attention span can take these days.
