To help embed the idea of walking, talking, romancing candy-filled paper mache animals, Microsoft has signed a deal with 4Kids Entertainment for a cartoon about the game.

The Saturday morning cartoon will be a "3D animated television series" and hit this fall on Fox during the 4Kids TV time slot. 4Kids are also responsible for Yu-GI-Oh!, Pokemon, Cabbage Patch Kids and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The show will also result in "additional licensed products" in 2007. In other words: Expect Toys!

Microsoft Game Studios Shane Kim told me that while the cartoon will depcit the Pinatas talking and such, the game won't. In the game, you are the central character. Though it sounds like there won't be any avatar for you.

Kim described the show as having a "Seinfeld, Friends dynamic." I'm not so sure about that.
