  • Nice job, shooting yourself in the foot Sony. I'll bet the farm that come release day, it's a $500 unit with no HD, Network adapter, no controllers, no games, no demo's, and no memory cards. That being said, I'll also bet that you will need to spend upwards of $800 just to play a game. With costs like that, I think I'll just take up pimping as a hobby. If I have to make a initial investment that's more than my monthly house payment, I might as well be surrounded by women.

  • Oh man. If there is region coding and no global online support, I will be soooo ticked. This is awful.

  • So we have to "get a 2nd job" to buy a PS3 and it doesn't even come with a HD? So very weak...

  • I can only hope that the optional hard drive will be as popular the 2nd time around. Oh Sony, this time, please release it 4 years into your console's life and right before a hardware redesign, please! Oh, and I hope your online network is as wonderful and easy to use as your online music store, your PSP network config settings and your wonderful MP3 player sync tools.

  • At this point I'm suprised they haven't devised a plan to make us by it piece by piece. Like a giant vending machine that pops out one tiny piece at a time. I can see it now: The pieces are randomy spit out so be sure to trade with your friends! Try to get the elusive tube of solder paste so you can assemble it! The perfect beginners course in electronics! Did you get a good cell or a bad cell? Only the official cell tester knows for sure! (sold seperatly)

  • Rayzak, be careful. > I'll bet the farm that come release day, it's a $500 unit > with no HD, Network adapter, no controllers, no games, > no demo's, and no memory cards. That being said, I'll also > bet that you will need to spend upwards of $800 just to play a game. * $500 => Mere speculation. Wait and see why they cut a HDD from the unit. * no HD => Impossible. HD by Blu-ray is what Sony is betting on. * no Controller => Impossible. Computer needs some kind of input to control. * no Network Adapter => Impossible. Why not? this is a cheap part. * no Memory cards => Possible. Never in history has any console included a memory card at launch. * no Games => Impossible. How come? * no Demos => Impossible. They will include a blu-ray disc to promote movies and games. * $800 to play => Impossible. Needless exaggeration. I rewrite it for ya. "I'll bet the farm that come release day, it's $500 unit with full HD support, Network adapter, a b******* controller, bland new games, a demo disc, and no memorycard. Each game costs $60 that's little expensive, doesn't it?" Yesterday, I got chocolates and candies from boys and girls (preteens). So I want to mean someone today. Surrounded by women? HA! TALK ABOUT THE IMPOSSIBLES.

  • Ouch, my browser has messed up. I can do the impossible after all :(

  • Jesus Christ, that's a lot of posts. Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised if they did some Core/Premium crap like Microsoft did. Just so they can advertise it at a lower price than it realistically costs, ya know?

  • You know, I'm still happier than if this was 51 comments of "Sony is going to lose with strategy like this" "Sony has the marketshare and cultural relevancy to do what it wants and still make tons of money." "NUH-UH" "YEAH HUH!" "NUH-UH" "YEAH HUH!" "NUH-UH" "YEAH HUH!" ad nauseam...

  • Not a double post, not a triple post, but a 45iple post! Anyway, I think that Rayzak meant that no games would be included. And alot of things you labled "Impossible" really aren't very impossible at all... no network adapter? It's not too hard to imagine that they wouldnt... Either way, I think the PS3 will still be too much for my tastes (or bank account) for what we will probably get at launch. I really cant blame them, though, for making things separate, its an easy (and very cheap) way to make money on something. If I do get one, it will be after about nine price drops probably.

  • Is there a way this 45tuple can be made into some sort of shameful reminder for everyone? when they tell you "it may take a few minutes to replicate on our servers" they are not kidding. Once you begin taking standardized components out of your retail package and selling them as add-ons, you are either projected to hemorage more money than usual on the per unit losses, or you have less support than expected from developers for that accessory. So either the HDD was a waste of time to begin with (unlikely) or it just costs too damn much to be included in the standard package, i.e. $500+ retail cost already(likely).

  • Nah, nobody can post 45 messages in 1 min. Some sort of miracle happened when my web browser crashed immediately after I post the first comment. Anyway, I apologize for this mess.
