Well, it's about damn time. The Commercial Times, a Chinese business paper, is reporting that Asustek Computer has started production of the PS3, with the aim of delivering up to 200,000 machines to Sony this month. More manufacturers are then set to join the fray in August.
How long have Asustek been working on putting PS3s together? Under a couple of weeks, according to The Commercial Times.
If Sony can pull 200,000 consoles for the next five months, that will give them the million they announced they'd have for a world wide launch. An eighth of what they need to satisfy demand, but it's better than not meeting even that modest promise.
