Forget PLAYSTATION 3 vs. Wii or Xbox 360. The real competition is the DS Lite. On Christmas Eve, Den-Den Town's Sofmap Zaurus received a big shipment of DS Lites and PS3s. With the DS getting Dragon Quest IX and the PS3 getting big games (in 2008?), guess which hardware the customers flocked to?
Yup.
Otaku blog Ota Road reports that when the 20GB and the 60GB PS3s and the DS Lites went on sale, the portable (which has been available since 2005!) cleaned up. According to Ota Road, it appeared that the Lite was more popular than the PS3. Apparently, the PS3 corner wasn't exactly packed with clamoring customers.

Granted, this is at one store, so I'd hardly call it a trend. And I'm willing to bet the PS3 still sold out eventually. Rather, take this as another sign that, yes, the DS does print money.
