There are apparently four levels of brightness on the original DS. A member of the Spanish board elotrolado.net reports that a user attempted to install a hacked firmware on his DS. The portable was subsequently recognized as a DS Lite. The modder installed the firmware, and now his old DS has four levels of briteness. Apparently, not all DSes get recognized as a Lite, and gbadev forum members are suspicious, but there is a video clip showing the process. Could this mean that we're only buying the DS Lite for its shiny shell?
