This Day in Gaming, October 26th

1997: Microsoft releases Age of Empires for PC in the US. Who knew an OS company like Microsoft could make decent games? This was the first title that really cemented in my mind that Microsoft could become a gaming juggernaut.

1998: Sybex announces they will be publishing a book version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to coincide with the N64 game's launch. In addition to the tear-jerking drama about a prepubescent boy finding his way in a complicated world, it contained hints on beating the game. Anyone read this? Personally, I don't like my medias mixing.

2000: THQ releases Summoner as a launch title for the PS2 in the US. For those who still have the game in their collection, load it up to check out the graphics. Then compare it to the latest PS2 title you have. Note that difference - remembering that new development tools will allow current developers to make the same graphical leaps on "next gen" systems. We are all in for some great gaming.
