wario.jpg.w180h176.jpg1994: Nintendo releases Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 for Gameboy in Japan. It's Wario's first appearance as a playable character, even if the Gameboy screen meant he wasn't sporting his trademark yellow suit. Damn is that thing snazzy. He must get way more tail than Mario.

1998: Capcom releases Resident Evil 2 for the PS in the US. It's a solid follow-up to an amazing first title. The original release date was slated for a year earlier, but Capcom was unhappy with the quality and started again from scratch. It's one, completely underrated attribute of the gaming industry: sequels are expected to get better.
