Final Fallout Teaser Image

The final concept art for Fallout 3 before the teaser trailer arrives in seven days' time is here, and once again Washington DC isn't looking all that good.

I'm with the Fallout forum regulars here...this is just too similar to the Capitol building concept from three weeks ago to really be all that interesting. They should have ended it with the spectacular piece from last week, which highlighted the 50's vibe that we know and love.

And that's it for the concept art. Now we just have seven days til the extremely important teaser trailer, as the more rabid Fallout followers sit by their computers, lighters poised under Molotov rag wicks as they watch for the slightest misstep. You can do it Bethesda. I believe in you.

  • Final Countdown? Is this...? Are these...Rocky flashbacks I'm having here? Damn you Fahey!

  • As a DC resident, I can tell you most parts of DC don't look much better than the teasers anyway.

  • Unfortunatly, I believe everything you say about the Fallout geeks with Molotov's on the ready.

I'm a Fallout fan, and I would be happy as hell to see the world made in a way similar to Oblivion. Free roaming, explorable, create your own way and story...

But I have always been a sucker for sandbox games.

  • I like the artwork but I just wished they could make it a little more accurate. The front of the Jefferson Memorial (the flat part) faces the Washington (the tall memorial).

  • "You can do it Bethesda. I believe in you."

    Well statistically someone has to.

  • EA should just publish a 21st century remake of Wasteland...

  • Cue the WAAAAAAAHBULANCE. Let me save the next 50 posts: Wah wah Oblivion with guns. Wah wah I want it to look and play exactly like Fallout 1/2 from 1998. Wah Wah Wah.

This is still better than all of the Van Buren teasers released. Oh wait, they didn't release them because Interplay went Big Chief on the franchise and smothered it with a pillow.

  • @Nikolii: I don't know what's more annoying, the Fallout whiners or the Whiner whiners.

If you don't want to see people discussing their views on Fallout, then don't click on the Comments link. But don't fracking complain about the comments.

  • I just pray that they pay more attention to dialogue trees than they did with oblivion.

We all know this is pretty much going to end up being oblivion with guns, but they can atleast improve on some of the weakpoints of oblivion.

  • Why the hell aren't any of these suitable for desktop wallpaper!

  • I can't wait for this.

  • @cgoheen:
They rotated the Jefferson Memorial in 2010, this was the start of the apocalypse.

  • The real screaming will begin when Bethesda makes the "single-player only" announcement.

  • My that's a mighty intact city. Considering it theoretically got hit by a nuke ya know... Tsar Bomba ain't leavin' no bricks behind mister.

  • not interesting!?!?!?!?!? THIS IS CRAIG MULLINS!!!!!!!!!

  • Is that Johnny Smith standing at the base of the Washington Monument?

  • @baberg:

Not my fault their views are repetative and stupid. If me being an asshole shames 1 person from posting "WAH OBLIVION WITH GUNS WAH DOESNT LOOK LIKE ITS 1998 WAH" I've done my job and done the world a favor.

  • I have my molotov at the ready, I will freakin flip out if this game isn't right, and you know what I mean. I really like Oblivion, but Fallout should not be anything like it, combat wise. Seamles story, great, huge map, fantastic, all that stuff is true to Fallout, but if I have to play first person/third person shooter style, heads will be cracked.

  • To be honest. I would rather it be an action RPG, Like Deus Ex or system shock. I just cant get into turn based style rpgs anymore. I have more fun and get more immersed in a game when its first/third person action. Actually I would settle if they did it like knights of the old republic or Final Fantasy XII even. Fallout super fans are going to be pissed either way. I really think theres nothing they can do to please them. Im a big fallout fan and Im just happy there making another one, and its not by EA.

  • ... The fact that Bethesda is releasing these 'fake concept art' as concept art is already making me feel like there is no hope for the game. Why the heck are they showing us artwork done by a person who doesn't know anything about the game they're making, and was only contracted for these 5 random pieces of work which really isn't concept work as they have their own in-house person doing those. (Info from NMA-Fallout if anyone was wondering where I heard this from)

  • *drool* Can't wait!

  • I love the pictures, and I love the music.

sure there is...just make fallout 3 a suped up fallout 2. basically better graphics, a new yet immensive story line...the same type of dark humor...maybe a few people like harold the zombie make a comeback...it wouldnt be embarking on any new territory but i genuinely think that its what all the hard core fallout players want. the graphics would be the "easy" part. and the story and humor would be as hard as nails to do as well as it was done in 1 and 2...but it could be done. they (hopefullY) knew this, but (most likely) decided not to do this. it'll be elder scrolls with guns...and i hate elder scrolls...

  • *groan*
I'm tired of hearing all this whining about what fallout 4 would/could/should have been. It's not going to be a supped up version of fallout 2. They are using the same engin as Oblivion so it will be the same first person layout. That means it's going to be realtime not turn based. We know they know how to make a wide open game and we know that everyone over at Bethesda knows and loves the fallout games so they will do their best to make a game they feel is both new and respectfull of the old fallout games. All 'n all I'm not worried a bit. Besides what good would complaining and worring be? They are not going to bring everything screetching to a halt and throw out everything they have so far to remake the game the way a little group of whinning gamers think they want it.
