Just in time for the New Years comes the Tet Offensive.
Kuma Reality Games and The History Channel are teaming up to release the final episode in their Shootout series. Tet Offensive: The Embassy gives gamers a chance to play through the events of 1968 inside the U.S. Embassy ground in Saigon.
The latest "Shootout!: Tet Offensive" chapter captures the essence of the Vietnam war in 1968 at the start of the Lunar New Year Celebrations, transporting players 20 miles northwest of Saigon where an American platoon has been battered and bloodied and is in dire need of back-up after a surprise offensive by Vietnamese forces. Gamers serve as members of the reinforcement troops of the Bravo Company who swoop through, quickly tracking the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese troops. The action escalates as their stealthy pursuit soon leads to a harrowing shootout through the jungles surrounding An My.Using heavy 3D CGI animation sequences, players can experience the thick of the battle from the viewpoint of the historical participants themselves. Viewers of the show can log onto www.History.com or www.KumaGames.com and download the online game for free immediately after each episode airs.
To kick off the new episode, Kuma and the History Channel are hosting a multiplayer event on Saturday, Dec. 30, to see who is the best two-member team. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern.
The top eight players will win their choice of two prizes: a DVD of the "Tet Offensive" episode from "Shootout!", or a DVD of "The Tet Offensive" episode from The History Channel series, "Declassified." "Shootout!" airs on The History Channel on Friday at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
