Comments
wow pokemon diamond might fall off soon, it had a good run over a year actually anyone know how its doing here?
Mainly DS and Nintendo
as if anything else was expected, this IS Japan after all.
Anyone played Gear Spirit yet? I loved the Grand Battle games and was wondering if this is similar in any way.
it's nice to know that koei can turn out the same game in a different setting nineteen thousand times and people keep buying it. i know i will
meh bladestorm has too short of a title, Gintama Gin-San to Issho! Boku no Kabuki Machi Nikki and the new Loco Roco title should pwn itself into high sales
A DS version of Summon Night? That better get released in the West.
Wow, the 360 version of Hitman outsold Pokemon in Japan... Sure, it's under excruciating circumstances but still a rather amusing occurrence.
If Hitman for 360 made the list, I'm wondering if Halo 3 can hit number 1 for just one week in Japan.
Whats the point of getting Ring of Fates knowing there's no online. Is there a review out there for it yet?
I can't believe My Housekeeping Diary is still/was ever in the top 10! I know the housewives in Japan are bored, but I didn't realize it was this bad...
P.S. - Go PS3 and XBOX360 games!
The first Crystal Chronicles was gorgeous and almost too much fun. Not to mention the soundtrack. You don't need online. Just get some friends.
@mossberg: Maybe you should try playing a game before dismissing it. Bladestorm is really nothing like dynasty warriors. Its tactical not a hack and slash. you dont control an uber general o'death. The game is available for DL on the JP PSN site.
edit- the game DEMO is available for DL.
@eternalplayer2345: NPD has Pokemon Diamond at 1.8 million in the US through July. Pearl was selling at about 70% that rate so it should be at 1.3 million by now.
@Sparx88: Knock it off with the fucking this is Japan after all comments for christs sake.
Perhaps if you were not BLIND you would know that this is most likely due to the fact that out of all the systems out there, nintendo is the one that is producing the most titles at the moment, so its only obvious that they would be up in the charts for most of the part.
The US would be the same if they actually had titles that would sell on the DS.
--------
@Dr.Chocobo: Im assuming the game is a bit too complex for online play. Sides what you dont have any friends near you to play with? Its a good game though, nice graphics and music. Plus the collecting items to make your equipment is a nice touch too. Although I wonder if the game has trading with friends.
I dont have a review for you but I can vouch for the fact that the game is well done.
--------
@Spartan1308: Mark my words halo will make it into the charts. It always has with the previous ones also.
--------
@mossberg: Actually bladestorm looks a lot nicer than most of their other titles. Mine arrives tommorow and am really looking foward to it. Although we all can expect large dosages of basterdized history but thats ok, since its what makes it fun. ;D
-------
@scndmg: Apparently it got rated really well, Im considering getting it myself cept I dont like the character art. I would have by far preferred the original artist Izuka Takeshi.
-------
Im assuming next week we will be seeing ACE 3 up in the charts, since theres a huge number of fans of that game.
@Witzbold: Btw Bladestorm would be the closest to KESSEN III on the PS2. If you havent played that, well yes its more of a tactical action / rts combination in a sense.
Anyways if anyone is curious about the game in more detail hit me up later in the evening, and I should have a good impression of the game.
Really looking foward to it, plus I can assume the music will be good too, since it was enjoyable in Kessen III. Koei seems to have rather nice music for their more serious games.
@Belain: really wow i heard a lot of "dynasty warriors in Europe" over this one a while back, if Koei changed up there formula more power to them
Am I the only one that is still awestruck by the numbers/position of animal crossing: wild world? Has it ever fallen of the charts?
@Nirolak: I think you mean "extenuating" circumstances....
... though I think i like "excruciating" better. :D
@Witzbold:
I didn't mean any disrespect. I love Japan and I like Nintendo. I prefer a DS to fulfill my portable gaming needs. Maybe learn a little about me before you go off like that. Damn. It's only been said about a million times that western games dont sell well there so I was more or less pointing out the obvious.
@Spartan1308: Unfortunately, even if every 360 owner in Japan bought Halo 3, it still wouldn't make it to the number 1 spot because there's not that many owners over there.
@Witzbold: I'm sure it will make it into the charts as well. I'm wondering if it can hit number 1. It is supposedly one of the most anticipated games in Japan according to Famitsu. I'm just not certain of what else comes out in Japan in 3 weeks.
@Sparx88: Actually, three out of the top five are Sony titles! Making it possibly the least-Nintendo week in ages. (Okay, it starts looking a bit more Nintendo if you consider the entire top 10, or the whole chart.)
@Dr.Chocobo: There was no online in the GameCube FF:CC either and lots of people bought that...
@Spartan1308: Sure, Halo 3 could very well be number 1 for a week (if nothing else major comes out that week). It wouldn't be the first for a 360 title; IIRC, Blue Dragon got number 1 also.
Oh my God, Wii Sports is out of the top 10. I never thought I'd see the day!
@Witzbold: Found a great review that sums it up pretty well.
[rr.ds.ign.com]
Yeah, I'm a little disappointed with no online, but hopefully it still has that fresh feeling everytime I play FF CC for the GC with friends.
One of the best Co-op RPGs
@gibfather: Check your maths. The #1 title this week sold 79,000 copies, while there are about 400,000 360s in Japan...
i think buying new DS/Wii games is just a habit japanese people have gotten into - its like paying a bill.
"damn new DS game out today i have to buy :("
@Spartan1308: I dont think it can hit number one just due to the small userbase of the 360 though. But hell anything is possible, plus depends on what else comes out that day.
Granted it will make it into the charts though, but might get beaten out by something else for number one.
If MS wants to sell more 360s they should consider making a rush price drop in time for the Halo 3 launch. Im sure that would move a few more consoles.
@Sparx88: Im just seriously sick of the same comments over and over again. Seeing yours there set me off, wrong place at the wrong time type of situation mate. I do apologize also for my lashings with my previous post.
@mossberg: Yeah that dynasty warriors in europe was most likely said by those who are not familiar with the game at all and just go shooting their mouths off before actually knowing the history of KOEI games and what they have released. I still dont see how they thought it was dynasty warriors, since dynasty warriors never had troop formations. Not to mention have you ever seen the enemies all attack at once? You would be lucky if even one attacks you with the AI. ;D
As I stated before its more closer to their KESSEN series, and I for one am glad that they have tried to take it in a new direction, since the whole Japan / China thing has been done to death for a bit. This might actually be rather refreshing. Try hitting up some vids of it at gametrailers or gamevideos. While some arent too impressive others are quite amusing to watch. :)
@PissedPS3Fan: Seriously. Maybe it's being bought by parents hoping to scam their children into cleaning up? Someone please tell me there's actually more to My Housekeeping Diary then the name suggests.
@PissedPS3Fan:
And some people don't realize why wii fit will propel wii sales threw the roof.
@Dr.Chocobo: Sorry man I dont trust IGN all that well. But yeah its a great game, and if you are a fan of FF this is one of the spinoff titles that might be worth picking up. Im having a good time with it so far. Its nice too that they didnt kill the experience by making overuse of the friggin touch pen. ;D
Like Celda since god at times I wish they just included NORMAL FRIGGING controls instead of the touchpen for everything, as cute as it may be we are only human and our hands can take only so much writing motion.
@quen: AH! My bad.
Has the news of the invasion of the Japanese residential areas by Yamabiru dampened the sale of video games?
The news that those things were becoming a problem where I lived would dampen my desire for a video game. I wouldn't want to go outside for awhile because I would be fearfull the yamabiru would get in my socks. From what has been reported the yamabiru make a horde of ticks seem like small potatoes and drain far more blood from you then the ticks would.
@Witzbold:
Hey its an honest mistake, no offense taken.
kessen eh? I've thought about renting one of them a few times ( i forget which one)
@quen: I see what you saying, but the fact is the vision of the gamecube version was diffrent from the DS one.
It forced players to work togthor using thier gameboys linked up. Frustrated, I did not understand this at first and questioned why they did not just use the GC controllers.
They used the gameboy connection in a special way that forced players to cooperate. with each one having a different kind of map. A friend would shout out if an enemy was near. Another would tell us if there was any nearby treasures. etc.
Super spells required precise timing (firaga, curaga, etc.)Not two people could have the same spells adding even more dependency on each other. The race system that determines how your stats will be raised and the bonus system at the end of levels was excellent. The game is pure fun if you over look the menial requirements.
That was the year 2004. Now with the DS it would be much easier to pick up and play with others online. In my mind, it would be the same concept as the Gamecube one (random maps and all). When I heard that you could pick classes I was spazzing out. Not only would you get to pick a race now you can tweak your skills being a certain class!
In conclusion, from the reviews that I read I think I'll be disappointed, as it does not have the same things that made the first a team effort.
@mossberg: If you were to try one Kessen III is the nicest of the series. The story was cool, plus a few hidden things in here and there.
I forget if they left in the dual voice tracks though in the US version. I know the PAL version is Eng only though.
@Witzbold: It's not from the IGN staffers =D
It's a very solid review of a person who's imported the game. I can honestly say there was no bias. Check it out.
@Witzbold: i should give it shot but i still need to find a copy of ico thats the next PS2 game i buy/rent/whatever
Wii needs some new games in this list. So does PSP.
Nice to see a 360 nod in there.
@marlblank: What about New Super Mario Bros. outselling The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass?
Come on Japanese people, what the hell are you thinking?
(Disclaim: I own New Super Mario Bros. and I just beat it again last week :)
@KiyuKo: Celda is a pain in the ass to play with the touchpen all the time. Perhaps if you had the game you would know that too. ;D
While mario isnt a pain in the ass to pick up and play.
Gears of War made the top 10 in Japan (#7). For a new IP and a genre they dont usually buy, that's pretty good. I dont see how halo 3 cant do the same thing.
@Witzbold: I played through the whole game and I loved the touchscreen controls ^^
I just wish they would hurry up with the European release... Still more than a month to wait --"
@NoBullet:
That was for one week right?
@KiyuKo:
Well the NA people are going to import Tingle from Europe so consider yourself lucky that you do get games NA doesn't.
@Yetanotheruninspiredscreename: I guess few NA people will import that game...
Doesn't America hate Tingle after all?
@KiyuKo:
America hates any image of men kissing each other or holding hands so America in general hates French men and therby Europe above anything else.
