It's the moment all Final Fantasy fans have been waiting for: red hot Chocobo breeding. Fans are quick to point out it breeding those big yellow bird-like FF horse substitutes was possible in Final Fantasy VII. Well, it was, but the breeding/raising featured in the online FF XI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan is like better and takes a page from the Spore playbook.
According to 1Up, players acquire an egg, each with its own unique DNA. Then players have to incubate it and check it daily for a month. The Chocobo's abilities and appearance depend on how the bird is raised. Hey, it's pure John Locke!
Square says, "Chocobos are very delicate creatures. The love and care you give your chocobo will have a major effect on its development. You should feed your chocobo when it is hungry, and spend time with it when it is lonely." When it reaches a certain age, you can have it bonk another Chocobo. The end result is another egg, from which *fingers crossed* hackers will make Chocobo omelets.
