Inafune To Make NYC Appearance For Mega Manniversary

mega_man_20th.jpgMega Man creator Keiji Inafune may have moved on to more contemporary fare with games like Lost Planet and Dead Rising, but he still loves the old Blue Bomber. The official Capcom blog revealed today that Inafune will be making an appearance at a New York City Gamestop on August 7th from 5-8 PM to join in the 20th anniversary celebration of the Mega Man series.

He'll be autographing "limited quantity Mega Man retro-themed t-shirts, special posters, your baby's forehead, or anything else you got." He seems very open, but I'm guessing that if you want to get your boob signed, you should probably be female. My suggestion? Create your own Mega Man milk bottle and see if Inafune gets the joke.

More details at the official Capcom blog, including hints at an appearance from Mega Man himself. Commence girlish shrieking... now.

  • Dammit, I have to travel a whole 23 blocks. BUT ITS WORTH IT! :D <333333

  • I want my copy of Dead Rising signed o_o

  • I like megaman and all his games pretty much, but really, does Capcom celebrate his anniversary every year or has 5 years really gone by that fast? I'm trying to remeber when I bought the anniversary collection and i'm not sure if 5 years passed already.

  • Ok wikipedia says the game came out 2004, it was the 15th anniversary then, it is now 2007, 3 years have passed. How in the hell is it the 20th anniversary? are they leaping through time or something?

  • Capcom really should re-do the original Megaman series in HD for Playstation Network and XBLA like they've done with the Street Fighter series.

  • i don't get to nyc until august 8th

i really wanted my megaman tattoo signed :(

  • A Manniversary sounds like a kind of pride parade event, and a Mega one just makes it bigger.

  • Yay, Mega Man! Happy 20th. Wish I could go, but I don't have the time/money (mostly money). I would totally love to get my copy of Mega Man... Mega Man something signed. I was going to say Mega Man 1, but the boxart is so ugly that I'm not sure. Maybe the first Mega Man X, then.

I wish they'd stop using the alt universe Mega Man characters in the anniversary logos, though.

@jive238: I don't know why they labeled it with the 15th anniversary logo. It was closer to the 17th. December 1987... so it's definitely the 20th this year.

@johnmedz: I was skimming a roommate's copy of EGM, and it actually mentioned something like this coming to the PSN. In the rumor section, of course.

  • @johnmedz: I would buy a 360 for that in a HEARTBEAT. Classic Megaman games > every other game ever other than Zeldas.

  • @johnmedz:

They did announce that the PSN was getting a redone version of Mega Man 1 available for download. I'm waiting to hit that

  • Wow. that's just great news then! I hope it hits XBLA as well, though with this price cut, I may just have to grab a PS3 finally

  • Someone go to that damn thing for me AND DEMAND HE MAKE A MEGA MAN POWERED UP 2!

I demand a remake of the greatest game ever made!

    And a shrubery...

  • @MakoAoyama: A remake to the greatest game ever made? Why, they would have to get through a second Powered Up before they could even reach Mega Man 3! :P

Seriously, though, someone should convince him to either make the remakes specifically for downloads on the big three consoles (or Wii specifically), or transition the remakes over to the DS. Everyone knows it would sell on the DS. Battle Network sells, so why not?
