Nintendo's resident genius Shigeru Miyamoto received the Legion of Honor from France in recognition to his contribution to combining art and digital technology. Miyamoto was awarded the rank of Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honor, created by Napoleon I in 1802. He called the award an "honor for the entire electronic game industry."
