What does it take to be a videogame 'sexpert'? Jesus, I dunno — ask Wagner James Au. A predilection for having orifices stuffed with polygons?
I dunno. But a new book about sex in video games (called, curiously enough, 'Sex in Video Games') has been released, by self-proclaimed video game 'sexpert' Brenda Brathwaite. She's got some great titles on her resume, including Playboy: The Mansion, Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes and Wizardry 8. Well, one good game, anyway.
From the book's description:
Seeking to understand this emerging trend, developers, publishers, retailers, and consumers are asking themselves: When is sex appropriate in a game? How far is too far? What will it mean for the product? For its distribution? For my company? For me? Do games with sexual content sell better? Are they generally profitable? So far, there are no definitive answers to these questions. Sex in Video Games provides insight into this issue and presents guidelines and answers by studying the history of sexual content use in games and within the industry itself.
No fold-outs, unfortunately.
