Sega, capitalizing on the two things it does best, creating original tennis games and pumping out Sonic the Hedgehog appearances, is bringing the two together with Sega Superstar Tennis. Like the PlayStation 2 EyeToy cash-in Sega Superstars, the tennis game brings together franchise leaders Sonic, Ulala from Space Channel 5 and Amigo from Samba de Amigo, puts them in various Sega themed tennis courts and lets them duke it out. Other franchises are sure to be represented in Sega Superstar Tennis, in good hands at Sumo Digital, and we have our fingers crossed for representation from House of the Dead and Altered Beast.
It's coming to everything—PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS—for maximum profit. A handful of screens await you.

i was hoping this was going to be a mini game in samba de amigo... oh well, i'm all for it. We need a wii tennis game other than wii sports.
We got Mario and Sonic Olympics... Mario and Sonic Tennis anyone?
Aah, Sonic. Fond memories from my youth that cannot make up for the games coming out now. Ah well, here's to February.
Altered Beast, eh?
...
"Wise fwom your gwave"!
Wonder if Billy Hatcher and NiGHTS will be playable...
Heres hoping for the anthro Hornet car from Daytona making a return...
it would be funny to see kazuma from yakuza show up in a camio
Do . . . Not . . . Want.
It looks a lot like virtua tennis, but even MORE "arcadey"... i'm all for it. A "virtua tennis" for wii is needed, and this will satisfy my needs even better, methinks.
Theres alot of franchises that they could include, possibilities are endless. Here's some errant hope that they include some Jet Set love, maybe even Shenmue. You could go really old school and include Alex Kidd, or even someone from Virtua Fighter. Seaman, Chu Chu, PSO, the list goes on and on. Here's to hoping it's not just another kiddie cash cow.
Another tennis game from the fine folks at Sumo Digital that brought us Virtua Tennis? I'll buy a copy. I don't care if it's Sonic or Bubsy the Cat; I'll definitely check it out.
I'm surprised the Wii doesn't have 10 tennis games right now. Wii sports tennis is still awesome. I hope this game is like the wii sports version.
Sega you bastards!! You put Ulala in this bloody game knowing full well that Dreamcast owners would have no choice but to buy it - bad Sega! BAD!! Here's my $50...
left right left right swing! swing! swing!
I think this could be cool. I hope Alex Kidd is in it. That little dude from Ghost House might be too much to ask. I think that game came on one of those little cards you could get for the master system...ahh memories.
Looks good. Probably gonna be a few more Sonic chars at a guess, maybe some Virtua Fighter ones too. I dunno, I'm not entirely familiar with Sega's entire range...
...dammit, I want Ecco playable. Put a damn pool next to the court, that'd rock.
Just maybe they could put a certain % of the profits into the jar: "Profits generated by cash-ins for Shenmue III"
Hey, Sumo made Virtua Tennis 3 and it was actually quite good. I might be the only one, but I'd totally get this game. I'd especially get it if they decided to throw Ryo from Shenmue in there. That'd be classic.
Wii owners get to wave their arms and break stuff around the house, while everyone else gets to press a button, repeatedly. Great game.
all wii tennis really needs is the ability to move around with nunchuk / no auto-move junk... but if it plays exactly the same otherwise count me in/ If it is set up exactly like virtua tennis 3 with motion controls for hitting, but keeping the movement with nunchuk, i'm in.
Ryo better be in it. Could be an easy way to finish the series, having him beat Lan Di in tennis.
Kids today are gonna look at Ulala and be like "Who the fuck is you?"
Inclusion of Ulala = SOLD. You win this round, Sega.
I may be a harcore sonic fan who enjoys even the most hated of sonic games, but there is no way I would even consider buying this.
.......Unless Vyse from Skies of Arcadia appears.
Hmm sounds cool id probly give it a spin
@bigman88zz: We've rescued Tim Henman!
No PSP version? Thats where the REAL profits at!
ZING!
@2SBs: And people wonder why the Wii sells so well.
Oh and Ryo Hazuki better make an appearance. or bettery yet, add Joy, and add the Dead or Alive jubblies effect.
*drools*
Crossing fingers for Vectorman. We miss him.
@somari: Dear god, I'm a Sonic tragic too but even next-gen? From what I hear, that game combined everything that was wrong with the Sonic franchise. Hopefully that got it out of Sonic Team's system and they'll start making good games again.
But ranting aside, looks good. Heh, it'd be hilarious to see Sega produce a bunch of sports games that compete with Mario Sports. Or even better, a series of crossover games.
If you're gonna make shameless cash-ins, at least make them good and fanservice-filled. After all, if game companies didn't like making spin-offs we wouldn't have Smash Bros. now would we?
@Red_Maniac: I loved the hell out of that game. I don't care what anyone says, it was awesome.
@Red_Maniac: I don't care what anyone says, Billy Hatcher was an awesome game.
We need a delete option for comments...
I hate the games Segas been putting out lately, but this does look nice, I'll rent or buy it for sure.
I just hope they make a Chao DLC game someday.
Wow, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who's buying this solely because Ulala's in it. I wish that UGA (assuming that they're still around) would make another Space Channel 5 game.
seriously... wii is gonna steal away alot of my money soon. i won't lie.
Awesome. Tennis is one thing Sega can still do right, so I'm pretty well up for this. Sega's answer to Smash Bros? :-p I'm hoping for loads of Sega nostalgia and unlockables <3
If it plays anything like Wii Sports Tennis on the Wii, this is as good as bought.
Amigo!
dear sega,
i'll make you a deal. throw in Beat from Jet Set Radio and i'll stay home from work for an entire week and masturbate.
Wow, even more lame then Olympics.
They should have a map of mexico on one end of the court, the US on the other side, and have a bunch of samba monkeys running across.
