In a move that's sure to leave every other country scrambling to catch up, Sweden will be the first company to create an official Embassy in Second Life. According to "The Local, a website that offers Swedish news in English, the Embassy would really be more like an "in game" information booth, providing details on where and how to get passports and general tourist information. Olle W stberg, Swedish Institute (SI) director, spoke with AFP and talked a bit about the reasoning behind this idea.
Second Life allows us to inform people about Sweden and broaden the opportunity for contact with Sweden easily and cheaply.
W stberg hopes that the Embassy will be fully functionig in the near future and revealed hope for one day having an entire island devoted solely to Swedish companies. I get the distinct feeling that this is just the first step to the eventual online equivalent of Epcot Center.
Sweden to set up embassy in Second Life [The Local - Thanks Wandel]
