A good week for Nintendo, less so for Sony, in the funtime nation of Japan, where everyone owns a Nintendo DS and the national birth rate is directly tied to new Nintendo hardware sales. Okay, I just made that up. I have no such statistics to make this argument.

But Nintendo sales were indeed up week-to-week on the handheld and household front. Even Microsoft's Xbox 360 saw a bit of a sales boost from the previous seven days. Here are the hardware sales for Japan for the week of March 19th to the 25th.

• Nintendo DS Lite - 130,549
• Wii - 75,571
• PSP - 41,546
• PLAYSTATION 3 - 20,459
• PlayStation 2- 16,961
• Xbox 360 - 3,492
• Game Boy micro - 765
• Game Boy Advance SP - 607

Sadly, Gamecube sales were down dramatically. I guess this really is the end of an era. Michael McWhertor
