This is where we would start commenting on the state of the British market last week. Observations on Wii games, on DS games, on Nintendo first party games, etc etc etc. But this week we won't bother. Because it's clear you're all too busy playing FIFA. More »

NPD's PC Sales Charts September 14-20

Don't look now, but there are real games on the bricks-n-mortar PC sales charts for the week. Real, honest-to-goodness, not-made-by-Maxis-or-Blizzard games. Don't believe me? Check out Warhammer Online at #1. Or Crysis Warhead at #4. Or, bless it, Stalker: Clear Sky, which doesn't just make the charts, it beats out World of Warcraft. More »

Lifetime British Console Sales Figures Get

In a rare act of charity, the usually-stingy ChartTrack have released some hard, useful sales data for the British market, in the form of lifetime sales figures for the current generation of both home and portable consoles. As of this month, the PS3 has sold 1.4 million units. The 360 has sold 2.3 million. The Wii, however, has both trumped, nearly outnumbering the competition combined at a healthy 3.6 million sold. And the handhelds? Nowhere near as close. The PSP has sold 2.9 million units, while the DS has sold a whopping 7.1 million. So, yeah, Nintendo Nintendo Nintendo. Explains the weekly sales charts.

British Sales Charts

Britain partied like it was April 2008 last week, with Wii Fit reclaiming the top spot over Mario Kart, which having thrown a cheap-ass blue shell in the path of Lucasart's Force Unleashed overtook last week's winner on the home stretch (following last week's dominance, the SW trilogy-fillers slipped to #3 (360), #4 (PS3) and #7 (Wii) respectively). Oh, and Fun Fact: not one, not two, but four PC games charted last week. Spore, WAR, Crysis Warhead and Colonization. Click through to see how they did. More »

NPD's PC Sales Charts September 7-13

Spore, anyone? More like Spore, everyone, as Maxis' galactic creature game sold like a house on fire that was full of combustible hotcakes. Spore's #1, the Galactic Edition is #2, and even the Creature Creator hangs on to #4, despite the real thing being out. The rest is your standard Warcraft/Sims breakdown, with the exception of Crysis, which hung around thanks the pre-Warhead interest spike. More »

It's largely accepted that Force Unleashed is a bit of a disappointment. OK story, and a nice filler between the rubbish movies and the good ones, but as a game, it's got problems. But hey, since when did the fact a game was a disappointment stop it selling a ton! The Force Unleashed dominates the charts this week, with the 360 and PS3 versions coming in at #1 and #2 respectively, while even the Wii version makes it in at #6. More »

NPD PC Sales Charts August 31 - September 6

Looks like I spoke to soon! Sims 2 Apartment Life won a reprieve atop the PC sales charts for the week ending September 6, as Spore didn't quite have a long enough stay on the shelves to take the top spot. it'll no doubt get there next week. Asfor the rest, you know how it goes, though I'd like everyone to say a big hello to Crysis, who's rejoining us this week at #10 after a long sojourn. Hello, Crysis! More »

The King (Nintendo) is dead (at least temporarily). Long live the King (EA)! Yes, EA muscled up the charts in style last week, claiming the top two spots with Spore and Mercs 2, while Tiger Woods and even Spore Creatures did good business. Lord only knows how much money they'll be bringing in when FIFA 09 and Need For Speed hit the market. More »

NPD PC Sales Charts August 24-30

Poor Sims 2: Apartment Life. In it comes, debuting at #1, just like everything else that's ever had "The Sims" in front of it. And just like everything else that's ever had "The Sims" in front of it, it would be expecting a long stay at the top of the charts. Pity (for it), then, that it's just keeping the seat warm for Spore. As for the rest of the charts, Nancy Drew has retreated back into the shadows, replaced by...Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm. If you're going to break the Blizzard/EA stranglehold, the best way to do it, is to do it with crustaceans. More »
