Okay, Spong claimed that IGN had pulled a leak of all Wii details. That turned out to be crap — a valulable lesson to me in haste when charging forth fully possessed by the throes of a boner over the prospect of a $229 Wii.
But there was one rumor in IGN's post that was pulled. What was it?
The same report also stated that: "IBM may be working on a revised Broadway chip with a lower clock speed for a future Nintendo hand-held — presumably one that plays GameCube discs." SPOnG has had a handle on Nintendo's push towards a portable GameCube player for well over a year now. We are more than pleased such a device is seemingly nearing an official announcement.
Juicy. I'm a little unclear as to whether or not this means that such a portable would be backwards compatible with the Gamecube, or would simply use the same proprietary media format. I am a little skeptical of any handheld using spinning, easily disrupted discs. But a portable Wind Waker or GC Fire Emblem? Nintendo can just take my damn money now.
