Good gravy. As if it wasn't bad enough these fools had a Saturday morning timeslot growing up and every year around Christmas time we have to listen to that annoying song ("Last Christmas" by Wham, of course), now there's talk that these squeaky rodents might have a game coming out. EB Games has listings for Alvin and the Chipmunks for Nintendo DS, Wii, PS2, and PC in their database which could mean disaster for anyone's unprotected ear drums. I'm sure there are still some chipmunks fans out there roaming the earth, but it's time to let it go.
Alvin and the Chipmunks Invading Consoles [Siliconera]

I'm pretty sure they were making a new Chipmunks movie despite it being very low key. I'd bet on this being a movie tie in title rather than the suicide mission that releasing a chipmunk's game and hoping for the demographic to magically appear would be.
The Chipmunks haven't been in since the 80s, but a CGI talking animal movie always works to make hundreds of millions. See what they did there?
At least the movie was good..
Chipmunks weren't actually singing the songs!!!
I feel betrayed, this game definitely won't be in my letter to Santa.
WOOREE BOOREE!
Alvin and the Chipmunks theme song. You're welcome for getting the song stuck in your head :)
@thestone:
The one where they competed with the girl chipmunks to race around the world but they were really transporting diamonds or something?
one of the US media's greated crimes against humanity. Don't let them continue!
I never liked 'em. In fact it would flat out piss me off when their show started on saturday mornings. I would go find something else to do for a half hour before coming back to the T.V..
There, now I can let the healing begin.
@BobbyMcPresscott:
Yep, this definitely has to be a tie-in to the new CGI chipmunks movie starring Jason Lee as David. I had managed to successfully banish this movie from my brain until this article.
Time to go track down my Chipmunk Punk LP.
@shipwreck: Oh, Jason Lee. When you finally got the recognition you deserve you were meant to stop appearing in crappy films.
I was a big fan of the chipmunks back in the day.
I got some LP's too.
@Kuraudo: I was shocked when I saw the "Underdog" trailer. Of course the entire time Underdog spoke i couldn't help but think of Earl.
I wonder what's next? A Howdy Doody game complete with motion sensitive puppet controls?
It seems like they are running out of ideas.
(I mean, come on, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Game? Sounds like the bottom of the idea barrel.)
[ I must confess though, I had fun too in my childhood watching their show. I can remember how I sometimes played vinyl records of my parents two times the normal speed, so that it would sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks. (e.g. Michael Jackson - Bad) ]
I loved the Chipmunks back in the day. The idea of them coming to consoles, in any form, is a travesty. Wouldn't surprise me if EA was behind this; their originality is top notch. (Note the sarcasm simply oozing from that last line.)
I think everyone here will agree that Urban Chipmunk was their finest mainstream US domestic release. Sure, it was after they "sold-out", but you can't argue with the excellent production value of that album.
Besides, you just haven't lived until you've heard Eddie Rabbit songs performed by prepubescent anthropomorphic rodents.
The only reason I ever watched The Alvin Show was to see Clyde Crashcup. So unless he, too, is making a comeback, then I'm not interested =P
@theexcitingone: You think YOU were shocked to see Underdog - only way I found out was a poster slapped on the side of a bus.
I'd almost think down on this movie, but I'm not expecting anything from it. Just like Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Damn I remember this stuff. Don't want to though.
@knulpm: yep! watched that when i was kid. crazy movie.
Well, I actually liked the show, but I found the Chipettes more entertaining.
I hope Bioware makes the game, so Jeanette will be some kind of bad-ass mage character.
@knulpm: I think you are thinking of Blood Diamond. It had Leo DiCaprio in it.
No.
"Alvin, Simon...THEODORE! Doo doo...doo doo dee doo!" Oh god...what have I done??? *shoots self*
I can hardly wait to read the novelization of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Movie: The Game Inspired by the TV Show Based on the Novelty Single. One last step to complete the cycle...
Simon is clearly the most talented...
ALLLVINNNNNNN!!!!
Hell yeah chipmunks :D @alvin thanks lol
I haven't seen these guys in about 15 years.
I mean, I saw some porn of it in 4chan a couple of months ago. But I loved them.
Just the ads for the made-for-TV movies on Cartoon Network scared me.
DO NOT WANT
I'll let go of the chipmunks when you let go of robots that change into cars.
Weird. I bought the first movie at the store today and then I come home and see this. *ques Twighlight Zone music*
This is simple (as with everything) If you dont like it, don't watch/play/listen to it. Durh!
