Wow, just when I thought I had time to breathe along comes an amazing, and fairly well sourced rumor.

Word in the industry has it that Peter Moore, corporate vice president of interactive entertainment business, entertainment and devices division at Microsoft (Aka head of Xbox), will be soon leaving the company to head up EA Sports.

Microsoft has been quite close with Electronic Arts for a number of years now and Moore's not exactly a Microsoft lifer, having come to the company in January 2003 from his position as president and COO of SEGA of America. And remember Moore ran the sports business at Reebok and is a huge sports fan.

On the other hand, moving from Veep of Microsoft to head of a EA division sounds like it could be a step down for him, so for now take this with a grain of salt, but I expect to hear some sort of official word on this later today.

Update: Microsoft just confirmed Peter Moore's resignation.
