It is if comedian Artie Lange is to be believed. Appearing on the Howard Stern show, he said he'd just finished recording some dialogue for a new Leisure Suit Larry game, where he'll be playing a character called "Big Al". Totally unconfirmed by Sierra at this stage, but why would anyone make something like that up? They wouldn't. It'd be far too cruel. Though not as cruel as another Magna Cum Laude, so here's hoping for a real Larry game this time around.

WHYYYYYYY!?!?!?!?!?!
Exciting news for the 132 remaining fans of the franchise, I suppose.
old school LSL: YIPEEEEE!
new school LSL: Boo Hiss!
The old Sierra point and click games are/where/will always be awesome. As awesome as day of the tentacle, or monkey island, but oft overlooked.
@NoFunShogun: Hey, the original game was a ton of fun. Bring them back as DLC or something.
@NoFunShogun: You have no idea how many of us there are, kiddo. No idea at all.
@Kirbytheslayer: Is 16 years old, male, enjoys video games, ...: I've seen longer names.
I played these games from the original EGA in the early 80's. Aaah nostalgia. I personally found the entire series to be magnificently hilarious. Particularly the sixth and seventh games, though the first is the one I've played through most often, especially due to the fact that I'd played through the EGA version a dozen times before the VGA version came out, which I've since gone on to play through another dozen times.
I even fell in love with Leisure Suit Larry's Casino, which was an online casino game where you selected a male or female avatar and gambled with others while naked in hot-tubs. Very funny. There was a joke-machine in your hotel room that never failed to make me laugh. And the more money you earned gambling, you could upgrade your room. It was addictive, back when it was new. I never gave Magnum Cum Laude a chance, and I'll probably never give another Larry Laffer game a go unless Al Lowe's got some input on the thing.
I liked the old Sierra adventure games that involved typing in commands way more than the point 'n click ones.
will it come complete with dialog minigames that involve sperm?! here's hoping!
/sarcasm
...Wii?
F fat Artie.
If Al Lowe's not involved, who cares>>>
@MeanMF: Gay Howard.
Heard this on the Stern Show today, definately true. Artie has zero reason to make it up, infact he was not even familiar with the games in anyway. Glad to hear he is getting a sweet pay day out of it, but it will no doubt be a must skip game.
any stern fan knows artie isn't a liar so this is probably true...also he's a Stern staffer not just an appearing guest
@slymcbeans:
Of course it'll be "must skip," just like every other Artie project (Beer League, etc).
Artie will do anything for a dollar, so I'm sure it's true.
I wonder if this would be allowed to be an AO title on PC. I just get pissed off when an M rating for sexual content in video games is similar to a PG-13 sexual content rating for a Movie. I seriously want to see Wedding Crashers fun in the next LSL for an M rating.
@Roll3r: Those'll be collector's items when he dies within a year.
Appearing on the Stern show? He "appears" there every day, that is if he isn't "sick" (coughheroindetoxcough) or busy working on Rescue Me or Entourage ;-)
There was a rumor going around on the internet that the next Leisure Suit Larry game was going to be for the Wii . The game would come with a crotch holster and belt for the wiimote so the player can gyrate their hips and make Larry get lucky. I'll try to find the article.
Here's the rumor article, posted last year:
[www.bbspot.com]
Most likely fake but it's a funny read.
They need to put both al lowe and tim schafer on this pronto. Larry deserves nothing less. Fuck this artie lange guy...
lulz @ "appearing" on the show. He's a regular cast member, you know.
This makes me really giddy, as long as it's an adventure game.
Who thinks that this is just what the Wii needs right now.
I was always more of a Space Quest/Quest for Glory type of guy myself, but if it's faithful to the original series then I'm all for another Larry game.
Odd I just commented something about Stern on another post before I saw this post. Fuck @ Thrillhaus because Artie is the man and he's not designing the game just recording poorly written dialogue. I played through Magnum Cum Laude didn't have the same laughs but I made it all the way through. I'm all for more Larry though.
The biggest shocker is that Artie got about $30,000 for 2 hours of recording dialogue.
No wonder games cost $60!
Police Quest FTW. Wow i remember LSL 2. My dad wouldn't ever let me play it so I had to sneak into the living room at night to play. I really hope that the new LSL brings back the old humor and wit as the older series.
I'm assuming that "Big Al" is not related to "Big Gay Al" from South Park.
@Eltigro: Actually I'm thinking a Parody of Al Lowe. And if you need to ask who that is.... SHAME!
IF Al Lowe INPUT 0 THEN GAME = FALSE.
I should be a programmer.
@clarke: How do I get a really really long name?
@noelix: Yeah... most likely indeed.
This is so gonna be homebrewed at some point though.
I'd rock it.
The Leisure Suit Larry games was what got me into PC gaming in the first place. Every one was great with the exception of that POS last game. Perhaps they could make it episodic ala Sam & Max. Those developers seemed to have gotten it right.
Great news. Larry was one of my favorite adventure series. Hopefully the people at Sierra wise up and let Al Lowe create the game.
If they followed the blueprint from games like Sam and Max they could really hit one out of the park. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
I am wondering if Sam and Max made Sierra decide that the time is right to release another adventure game. Larry fans have had the most recent game in MCM (even it it really should not be called either a game or have the name Larry in the title), so it might be what they consider the best title to go after.
Personally I too would prefer a Space Quest or Quest for Glory myself, but I will take what they give and just hope they don't screw it up (and that Al Lowe is involved).
@Pezdispenser: AHHHH Space Quest and Quest for Glory (I still call it Heros Quest) where my favorite PC games ever! Crazy respect for you!
Hope they bring lowell...that his name?...back to the games..
the old ones were the bread and butter but magna cum Laude uncut wasn't all that bad. any game that dares walk on that type of line gets a 10 in my book unless your talking about that old cowboy and indian sex game on atari
I remember working at GAME in Christmas of '06 I think it was and this game sold like crazy on the Xbox. I couldn't believe parents were buying it for their children as presents. The front cover was hardly subtle neither. It had titties and arse all over the front.
i dunno, if they make the games with an adventure feel like the original ones, then it may be decent. the new ones (love for sail, magna cum laude) were just terrible. i didn't mind the old ones at all as they were at least relatively fun.
