Brazilian gaming blog Blogeek says that they have some new, unreleased details on Street Fighter IV. Normally, these sorts of rumors would be dealt with a snort, a dismissal and a "you're not 1UP!", but Blogeek's got the unreleased screen shots to back it up. They're both similar to the screen via 1UP that was unleashed today, set in the same Chinese market, but happen to feature Ryu's counterpart, Ken Masters. That would either make Blogeek extremely adept with a PhotoShop stamp tool or lend weight to their credibility.
Fortunately, reader Douglas was kind enough to help us out with a translation of the leaked (and still rumored) details on the game. According to Blogeek, Street Fighter IV will take place some time between Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Street Fighter III, which makes the return of Chun Li and Dhalsim more understandable.
The site also mentions that the game will run at 60 frames per second, pretty necessary for fighting games of this kind, and confirms online play.
Gone is the parry system, they say, as it will be replaced by a canceling system dubbed either "Saving" or "Revenge." On the offensive side, an "Ultra" move will be available as well as the "Super" moves in the style of Super Street Fighter II.
What we don't quite believe, though, is the rumored inclusion of Sheng Long. Take it all with a grain of salt, but we're willing to believe for the time being.
A second pic, featuring Ken's hurricane kick is also at Blogeek.

Wow, these look good ... must look AMAZING in motion!
Thank god about the games timeline, since I totally didnt dig 80% of SFIIIs characters.
Online Play, woohooo. The game is shaping up nicely.
I do think it's kind of strange that they're calling it Street Fighter "4" if it takes place between II and III. But I don't reallly care.
Now that pic looks nice.
This just in - it is still proper to count to four thusly: 1, 2, 3, 4.
Is the camera angle wonky or tilted or something, because ken looks a little wonky?
@lalahsghost:
The game is set in 3D world with 2D gameplay ... but the camera may pan and tilt, etc!
metal gear solid 3 took place first chronologically, its not that big of a deal. and who cares about the story anyway, who wants to play as a 65 year old ryu?
Also - Ryu looks nast-up from the calves ... down. His feet look like big fat-baby-fat feet. This game looks awesome - but Ryu's feet? The words 'baby' and 'FAT' come to mind.
The 2 Screeshots for you all:

@Witzbold: Yeah, neither did I, but I was kind of hoping for a bit more progression for the series. :( Still not sold on the look, but I'll wait for the videos before becoming depressed/excited.
Gorgeous.
Sheng Long-awesome!
@Straw Dog: Nobody said that about DMC3, though that may have been because people were trying to forget 2.
@McWhertor: Im with you there my friend.
This may sound like a joke but I seriously hope they bring Dan back too. ;D
PARRY SYSTEM NOOOOOO!
SF III CHARACTERS NOOOOOO!
The SF 3 cast was great, as was the fighting system, it's sad to see that none of that will make the transition.
I mean, Dhaslim over Necro? Really?
Also what does Balrog have that Dudley doesn't? Besides a hideous look.
Something tells me this is the "People who never heard of SF3 will love it!" Kind of game.
@hass:
That actually might be kind of cool. To quote someone on another forum, 'Martial Artists only get cooler as they grow older.'
Online play sounds frustrating without a perfect connection but it's better than no online play at all.
The first shot was a lot easier to get excited about. Why not make another side series if you want to stick a game between games... like they originally did with SFA before they decided to cram everyone into it?
If these "ultra" moves do exist and really are auto combos, it's an enormous step back. Unless, of course, you're really into Killer Instinct or something. Still trying to wait and be cautiously optimistic until we get the info from a more credible source.
@Bluur:
I dont think anyone cared about SF3 compared to the 2 series!
Just sayin is all
Blanka is cool and all, but Brazil does much better with Christie from Tekken as their token fighter.
I'm really liking the style of SFIV. Its like an isometric 2D that shifts depending on which side of the level you're on. Can't wait to see some video.
looks great
Haha, Sheng Long.
I wonder if they really put him in.
That would rule, hard.
A little disappointed that it is not a progression of the series. Would have loved to see an older Dhalsim, and a milfed-out Chun-Li.
@Witzbold: 2nd on the dan! Nothing like beating someone with him and just grinning ear to ear when they walk away in shame.
@BD: I don't see how they can put Sheng Long in the game, considering how Akuma killed him even before Street Fighter Alpha...I guess he could show up as a secret character though.
If any game is going to bring fighters back to life is this one.
@EnigmaNemesis:
Werd. My guess is that some of those new gameplay mechanics discussed (hinted at) in the teaser trailer will also include a 3D move of sorts where, say for example, Ken's hurricane kick will knock the opponent into the wall (the visible part of the background) and then the entire stage will rotate so that the background that was once visible is now the left (or right) side of the stage. Still 2D, but with some minor 3D stage mechanics.
i hope AKUMA still in!
@def PD:
That is what I am thinking ... would be really cool like that. Also I bet the camera pans at angles depending on the moves, thus why that shot looks like that. Give it a 3D effect all while not really effecting any 2D gameplay.
@Bluur: I think it really depends on when you got into SF. I loved the Third Strike mechanics, but the cast, ehh. Only ones that really stuck out to me were Alex, Hugo and Q, if only because Zangief and Cammy weren't in 3.
@EnigmaNemesis: SF3 I heard was the better technical fighter of all the SF series but I never played it though when it was in motion, it was easy to see why. SF2 is the crowd favorite and I remember getting a few spankings for fending of dozens of opponents for hours with their quarters all lined up on the challenger side; my mother thought I was kidnapped when I got home at 9 pm instead of 3 pm. After the third beating, she gave up... good times :)
@BD: It wouldn't be the first time EGM influenced game designs with their shenanigans.
@okenny :): SF 3 was definitely the better technical fighter. I can't decide which one was better though....SFA 3 or SF 3: Third Strike. I love them both.
Needs more Sakura. :P
@Bluur: The SF 3 cast was great, as was the fighting system, it's sad to see that none of that will make the transition.
The gameplay in SFIII is great but I can't say the same for the character selection. I do wish they'd move SFIV forward instead of backwards, but if it's fun it's fun.
@yairube: I fear Akuma's teleporting may break the game :( He was so bad-ass in alpha... lol, a venerable win button next to that cheating ass Zangeif.
Should have kept it full blown 2d, with amazing looking sprites, for some reason, I am not really digging this at all.
Much further in development than I thought. Those screenshots are clearly named as 001 and 008, combined with the poses that indicates that there is actual fight going on in there, with hit detection and all. I thought the first shot was just a target render. We'll see how this plays out, I won't be disappointed if this fails anyways, always been a more fan of SNK fighters. Very nice visual style anyways, refreshing. 3D has driven for realism in every aspect (anatomy, colors, lighting) for so long that it's good to see more and more games breaking the mold.
@reddevil: Definitely SF3: Third Strike. I'm not sure if I am all that impressed with the art direction of this game. I was hoping for something else I guess.
i just realized this game looks a lot like Garouden Break Blow for ps2. check it out: [www.esp-web.co.jp]
Still hoping that Capcom will do another NEW Street Fighter game in glorious 2d.
@Cornerb0y: I'm going on a simple belief at the moment: Looking at a SF3 screen shot next to this, this definately moves me more. Now if this new engine can move me the way SF3 did in motion, it will be the most ef'n awesome thing -EVER- !
So... how is this different from EX?
@pandafresh:
Why cause they have Karate Gi on?
@phextin:
Different that Capcom is developing it themselves!
That is all that is needed to know.
I like the new art style, but the sheer size of Ryu's feet makes me chuckle. :)
Shame they didn't go with the sumi-e cinematic style in the trailer. I know it was just for looks, but come on, that would have been awesome. :D
@Snappywave:
Well not that new, but the nice modern 2D work is being done on the new PS3/360 arcade game coming.
@vizion: Yeah, because story has always been so well written and important part of Street Fighter games that it would be a real shame to mess that up! Honestly, I can't imagine a person that gives a rat's arse what they do with the characters and timeline, they all just fight anyways.
Wow.
WTF really no Parry system that just made me sad right there @_@ (hope that the parry system part is fake) I really love the Parry system its one of the ebst features in SF IMO
ugh. is all I have to say.
this just confirms my fears. Guess I'll havew to wait and see how it plays, but it's still not the street fighter game I've been waiting for.
Wow... after today I'm way less excited for this game.
First, I really wanted 2D sprites. I'm sure this will look good. I really dig the environments, but I'll have to wait and see the game in motion before I'm fully convinced with the characters. Right now they kinda look weird in that level.
Also, the lack of parries is SO disheartening. My god, that's what made SF3 SO great. I can't believe they completely abandoned the best addition to game since SF2. I find parrying even better than Super Arts. Not even the return of Zangief can save the lack of parries.
Man, I hope this game is good. But no parries makes think it's going to be screwed.
And I think having it take place between Super Turbo and 3 is a weird decision. Just seems like this should be a spin off of Street Fighter, than a fully-fledged Street Fighter 4.
I honestly think that they can do much more with the 3D in this game than with 2D sprites. In the next-gen consoles, the multiple effects can be endless. While I don't think ANYONE at Capcom would want to sprite all of these all over again after going through with SFIIHD.
So they're making a prequel, huh? From the few screen shots released it seems like CAPCOM is really going to go all out in saying " Even if it is in 3D, it'll stay true to it's 2D roots and WILL put to rest the bad aftertaste that is the EX series". Well, i hope so. Even though the EX series wasn't as bad as say, Fatal Fury wild ambition or Samurai Showdown Warriors rage, it still wasn't better then K.O.F Maximum Impact 2 and i doubt it can even be compared to the other top 3d fighters on the market today. But alas, I'm sure CAPCOM wouldn't revive a beloved franchise after a long absence just to suck it up royally. Heres hoping it lives up to the hype.
Those extra fat legs with giant hobbit feet creeps me out.
Put that aside, and looks like it'll be a great game for oldschool gamers to remember the good ol'times.
@Kirbytheslayer: Krondonian Approved!: @BD: @Rabidsquirrel:
You're all joking right? There is no Sheng Long. Theres Gouken if thats who you're mistakenly referring to. And Goutestu who was Akuma's and Gouken's master. But NO Sheng Long.
This game looks just like SF II with better graphics....blow!
A) It looks awful
B) Guilty Gear > Street Fighter
Awwww shitters. Parrying was a godly mechanic, I pray this "save" and "revenge" stuff actually is a gameplay mechanic rather than that stupid "counterhit" stuff that appears in other iterations when you happen to hit him during a move. Just when I heard about 2d :(
@Ashurahori:
Where have you been? Street Fighter HD's art is NOT being done by Capcom. >_> It's being developed by Backbone Entertainment and the art is by UDON. -NOT- Capcom.
