I don't know why anyone would believe that rumor was true. Why the hell would someone like Jade Raymond, who actually has some credibility in the gaming industry, ruin that by posing in Maxim. I think the misunderstanding was that they had asked for her to be in it, but then she turned them down. Or maybe that guy thought if he put it on the forums it would have to be true.

well, jade shouln't be offended by the fact that people like her ... for the times i heard her talk in interviews she doesn´t seem qualified for that kind of job. Its obvious its only there for the looks and the publicity for the game (based on her looks and not the game itself)...
( by job i mean talking , not her work on the game ...)

All kidding aside, I really feel bad for Jade. She's getting all this unwanted attention just because she's working on this big game and happens to be an attractive woman. It really shows that on some level we as gamers need to step back and examine how we react to these sorts of things if we want gaming to be considered an acceptable hobby by society at large. Stuff like this doesn't help disprove the stereotype that all gamers are pathetic, undersexed nerds who live in their parents' basements.

For some reason I cannot explain; I do not find her attractive in any way people make her out to be, she's cute, yeah, but she's not Maxim spread cute.

@Stormrider900: Do you watch professional sports? Ever hear of the correspondent Erin Andrews? Really hot sideline reporter and she deals with this stuff every day. Kotaku sister site Deadspin talks about her all the time. This is not indicative of gaming culture, just male culture in general, which is amplified by the anonymity of the internet.

Also, Jade would be a fool to think that her looks didn't help to get here where she is. She obviously has a lot of talent besides being hot (like me). We all know she isn't the best speaker, but I at least believe she is smart enough to know how she got where she is.

@Spilt_Milk: Something like that would hurt her credibility mostly because she's a part of the Game Industry to begin with. In comparison to numbers of men, you don't find as many women in the Game Industry, and that very same Industry has been having trouble for the last decade or two figuring out how exactly to cater to a female market without just sticking games marketed for guys in a pretty pink box and calling it a "girl's version".

Women outside the industry thinking about entering it, or women looking to start playing electronic games, will almost guaranteed be discouraged by this. It would be bad for her, for the industry, and for the future of women and gaming.

Just had a class on this subject at the end of last week, actually.

As good looking as Jade is, I wouldn't want her doing that stuff, like RBZSFG said, she IS too classy for that, which is a good thing. I love Jade and have much respect for her.

That has got to be the most awkward piece of writing I have seen in some time.

Producers don't have to be the smartest person in the room. They just have to make sure everyone does their job and the project is running smoothly. Very few producers were once programmers.
