Here it is, folks. The highly anticipated trailer for Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV. Due to hit PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously this October, it will surely sell in the bazillions. Maybe even gazillions.
In light of the frothing demand for this minute-long early look at Rockstar's latest set in Liberty City, expect downloads and general internet performance to be crawling at a snail's pace.
UPDATE: Having trouble? The trailer is also available at GamesRadar, Rockstar Games, GameTrailers and GameVideos.

Wow. It's finally here.
LOL Philip Glass music for the trailer. Grandtheftisqatsi. I love Rockstar games.
Saints Row spoiled me...it doesn't look that revolutionary.
I'm sure it'll play swell though.
This easily has the potential to be my favorite GTA since GTA 3. I prefer the New York style city and they could not have chosen a better main character than a Russian... well, unless they had gone with Tokyo and a Yakuza. :)
And so Gametrailers.com was brought to its knees.
Okey, so this thing killed the internet!
looks great
Them graphics look lush. Not too sure about the character yet. What makes everyone so sure that will be the playable character anyway?
I wanted some London action to be honest.
Well, that was disappointing. I mean in terms of the amount of content, not what was presented. I love the choice of New York and the main character looks cool, but that briefest of glimpses hardly seems worth the hype and the wait.
Graphics look really good like. Let the hype machine start.
The people don't look as detailed as they do in Table Tennis...
Looks very cool. Don't really have much else to say about it. Liberty City > Vice City as far as settings go
Anyone else think there's something Koyaanisqatsi-esque about the music and presentation of this trailer?
We can be assured Rockstar will avoid the Wii, as they only are touting the grafix really.
It looks amazing. I'm blown away by how good it looks...
My only complaint is the decision to go with a "central" character again, rather than a "Create-A-Character" dealie.
Oh well. Here's hoping that Brooklyn is included in this iteration of Liberty City, and that it's SOMEWHAT accurate so I can go visit myself or something. :D
Here's a torrent for those who can't get the page to load.

Haha, scrap that! Just realised that the music IS from Koyaanisqatsi :P
*shamefully hides*
Why won't it work ;_;
Why, internets, why? I've had this as my homepage for a week now! Why punish ME?!
I'm really not impressed. Graphics are ok, but seriously I'm skeptical as its just a trailer even though its real time. Still doesn't show us anything interesting about the game, cause if its just the same shitty gameplay we've had in past 6 games, then who cares if its pretty?
I don't think that was Liberty City. Some of those buildings and bridges were never seen there before. It looks bigger as well. It's a new city.
@Smellslikepie: are you sure? it sounds an awful lot like an homage to a track on Glassworks to me.
Quite interesting that they DID choose that music and the same way of presenting it since, as many of you should probably know, Koyaanisqatsi actually means "life of moral corruption and turmoil" or "life out of balance". Only seen half of it so far, so I'll shut up until the morning :p
@scepia:
You forgot AI, physics, texture streaming, and animations too.
Downloading mine from gamespot.com right now.
Saw a screenshot already, and my oh my am I impressed. I'm glad they brought the series back home to Liberty City, too. Add in all the features from the GTA series plus new features and graphics, and man do we have a winner here.
October can't get here fast enough...I think I'll cryogenically freeze myself until then.
So glad this is in Liberty City. I hope they have the nature stuff like they had in GTA SA.
yay! another game witha brown color palette!
Rockstar raised my hopes and dashed them quite quickly with this trailer. Good show lads!
it looks like its Liberty City with much more direct New York references (Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Chrysler Building, Getalife... err... MetLife building). There are details in it that suggest its still Liberty City (see the Liberty Tree newspaper office in a Times Square shot).
"I prefer the New York style city"
That's possibly because it IS New York.
Once the internet's working again, I'm preparing myself for the biggest bitchfest.
@Karttikeya: Gameplay? Gotcha.
@CONFUSEDgam3r:
From what I can tell, they've completely redone Liberty City since they can obviously make it a lot bigger.
If anyone wants another link to the video:

Torrent's stink on this terrible internet connection I'm using. Unfortunately that means I'm going to probably have to wait until some kind soul YouTube's this thing.
Unfortunate that Rockstar wasn't ready for something like this.
WOW!!!!
Looks amazing!
I think the trailer was really bad. As expected, it's just like majority of game trailers out there with giving you high hopes for the game graphics, but the end-results won't be like that.
Like the scenery stuff had no activity going on. I'm not saying that those graphics can't be achieved in the game, but it's probably during Cut Scenes only. I think in the actual gameplay with lots of things going on, the stuff you were able to see in the trailer can't be seen.
@aaron: Yeah, DEFINITELY sure. It's one of my favourite films!
@CONFUSEDgam3r:
I think you are right. I got confused because the boat on the harbor said "Liberty City" but looking again it is def New York. Hell, they show the statue of liberty and time square
Got to see the whole trailer, looks pretty sweet.
... The Day the Internets Crashed.

@Nill: Thanks for the torrent link. If Rockstar wanted to do one huge launch they should have set it up as a torrent in the first place.
It also looks like it's liberty city because the first words they show are "Liberty" on the side of the building.

no waiting here guys check it out
No impressed. (And I saw it in HD.)
Damn.. Both the GTA:IV site and Gametrailers.com brought to their knees o.0
yeh, def new york. flat iron buulding, empire state building, brooklyn bridge, times square. looks great, leaves me with a lot of questions though. I d/led the trailer and have watched it like 20 times now.
$13.37 download speeds. Within just a few minutes of being released already the GTA IV site is crashing on us =P
It's not Liberty City. It's definitely NYC.
Given Ubisoft's recent problems with the real world settings found in Rainbow Six: Vegas and GRAW 1 and 2, and the target Rockstar carries on their back by, well, being Rockstar, I somehow doubt they want to take on Michael Bloomberg, Eliot Spitzer, and the New York Tourism Board.
Judging by only the appearance and voiceover we get from what would seem to be the game's protagonist, this installment of GTA deals with former Soviet bloc organized crime, probably the Russian Mafiya, and to be completely honest, this could lead to the most brutal GTA we've ever seen. Mafiya tactics and methods of enforcement make Italian, Cuban, and California Gang based organized crime look like Human Rights International, and knowing Rockstar, this will be played up in some way. Whether or not that means you'll be wielding a Shotgun whose shells are filled with broken glass remains to be seen, but I've got hunches.
Unfortunately, my biggest issues with the GTA franchise are issues that a trailer just simply aren't going to address, especially control. Now if they'd just implement meaningful moral consequences, then I'd be all set. But we'll have to see.

Why Rockstar chose to release the trailer on "games video" sites such as GameTrailers is beyond me. Next time, give it to the guys at Youtube, they're rolling around in bandwidth.
GameTrailers has always been damn slow anyway, it's best not to use those amateurs.
@3inst3in:
It's definitly Liberty City. Look at the back of the ship when the main character (presumably) has his voice-over.
