The Atari Museum has a guide up that walks you through the process of hacking the Atari Flashback 2 console so that you can turn it into a full-fledged Atari 2600 system that accepts carts.

Be warned it involves messing with a PC component board and doing a world of minute soldering and right now, there's no way to make it look pretty. Too bad my brother sold all of our 2600 carts like a decade ago.
