Reggie Interviewed By San Jose Mercury News

Troy Wolverton and Mike Antonucci, reporters for the San Jose Mercury News, got a chance to speak with Nintendo frontman Reggie Fils-Aime in an interview published earlier today. In it, he addresses various issues surrounding the Wii and DS including the lack of Wii availability, comparative sales to other consoles and even the broken strap issue. The interview is certainly interesting from a marketing and numbers standpoint, but what really intrigued me was a little sidebar item called "Five things to know about Reggie Fils-Aime" where we actually get a glimpse into a bit of the personal life of the man who's name has become synonymous with Nintendo.

    1. His girlfriend is not a gamer.

    2. He is a top player of "Wii Sports Tennis." At a party at the Game Developers Conference, he crushed all comers.

    3. His paternal grandfather was a general in Haiti in the 1950s when the military overthrew the democratically elected government that included his maternal grandfather.

    4. His parents immigrated to the United States because their politically opposed parents wouldn't let them date.

    5. His father is a retired mechanic.

Also in the sidebar is a short bio of Reggie that lists some of his former jobs before becoming Nintendo of America's President which includes marketing jobs for Guinness Import Co. and Pizza Hut.

Just goes to prove that what I always thought was right. At heart Reggie is just a regular old beer and pizza kind of guy.
