See any wires, boys and girls? I sure as hell don't. All I see is a bleary-eyed drunkard holding the ugliest fake guitar I've ever seen, playing Guitar Hero 2 on the 360.
Guitar Hero 2 for Xbox 360 [Major Nelson]
Ed's Note: It looks like there's a wire there afterall, see it, it's right there at the bottom being all obscure and such. While the big MN didn't actually point this out until after Florian's post, I'm not sure why Florian didn't notice it. Though on first blush I didn't either. Maybe Flor has been dipping into the same G&T that made Major N so bleary-eyed. Sorry for the confusiong and here's hoping for an official wireless controller down the line.

That controller is not wireless. Per Major's comment post on the subject.
More bad reporting.
you can clearly see the wire at the bottom.
I do.
Look carefully. He's holding the whammy bar in his hand, and just next to that is another black piece of plastic, from which emerges a standard Xbox 360 grey cable.
Sorry everyone.
You can see the wire. Just to the right of the little wawa thingy, right near his zipper.
aren't ALL the demo controllers wired at X06 and game shows?
wait for the retail version.

"That is not a wireless guitar...not sure if they'll make one...I sure hope they do!"
Microsoft has a hold on Xbox 360 wireless technology. Thats why all 3rd party controllers are wired. If the guitar ends up being wireless, Microsoft will have something to do with making it. Meaning, it'll be $80 basically.
Someone get that man a cup of coffee, or a Jolt, or somthin! He looks like he's ready to fall over!
I see a wire... how can you miss it?
Wow. Two days ago, Florian was the new Hunter S. Thompson for interviewing a cute violinist about something she did in high school, and now he's the human personification of bad reporting who can't get his facts straight or even correctly identify what is going on in a photograph.
Teh interwebz are a cruel, cruel wasteland.
way to do your research, florian. major nelson clearly stated it WAS NOT wireless on his blog long before you snatched this pic from there.
If the 360 unit is wired then it would be USB and if it was USB then it could easily be used in a PC rip off version. Doesn't stop it from being wired of course. But that's what would happen. Also if they had made the PS2 version USB then we'd all have a much better chance of 2 player goodness.
There is a wire there.
Did anyone mention a wire yet?
OMG I see a wire! Someone must pay.
No, really.
Wow. I didn't believe the previous posts about the X360 guitar being fugly, but didn't bother looking up the picture at the time. Now I see, and now I see how much you were right.
Yeah, you can see the wart on the wire underneath.
Ugh. How embarassing.
In my defense:
a) I didn't actually squint very hard for it, since I thought it would be flipping obvious.
b) I was looking for where the wire connects,
which on a PS2 controller isn't the bottom, it's the side.
c) Aeropause tricked me!
Actual thanks to the guys who politely informed me of my mistake, particularly people like AgainstOne and J. Goodwin. We're going to send you boys something extra special for just being such super commenters!
Hey look, coop!
I hope that if they do only have a wired version they make the wire long enough.
I thought the ps2 version could use a few more feet.
What's ugly about it? Maybe that the scheme is white and grey like a 360 controller? Otherwise its a Gibson Explorer bodystyle. I guess you guys are more comfortable rocking the SG.
Don't worry about it Florian, I didn't see the wire either, I presumed it was a display model or somethign because he said it was wired.
Kotaku is still the most reliable gaming blog :)
Hey another wire! They're spawing.
Yay!! It's pick on Florian day.
Looks like it's the first time MN has ever held a guitar (real or fake).
what can i say, florian? hasty reporting with no real research will get you no love in the field of journalism.
and crecente, it's nice that you're trying to save face for florian, but unless he posted this before 6:17am Central (and i'm pretty sure he didn't), that's a load of bull.
i did a time test by posting a comment for the topic in major nelson's blog. i posted it at 12:55pm Central. it says i posted it at 10:55am, which means it is 2 hours ahead of my actual posting time (which only means he's using Pacific time, but let me continue).
major nelson posted in that same topic that the controller was indeed wired. the time he posted this was 4:17am. that would be 6:17am for me. i checked Kotaku at 7am (before leaving for work) this morning and this topic was not here at that time.
anyone who followed that train of logic can see that the major has indeed revealed, in the same spot florian got the picture from no less, that the controller was wired.
there's also a post from Kotaku in major nelson's topic. it is basically is the text from this post, with an extra sentence. of course i have no idea who posted it, but it was posted almost 3 hours after major nelson's post revealing that the controller was wired.
Ah, you got the photo before Larry donned the Spinal Tap wig... :) forgive my lame photoshop skills at http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2006/09/28/537695.a...
