is it just me or are other ppl getting sick and tired of
1) pointless non game related posts with the word "Halo" in them
2) Pumpkin game art posts. I really couldnt' care less if its Halloween.

Damn. Some people are skilled at carving pumpkins.

I think the pumpkins are cool. You don't even have to click on the stories, just look at the pic and move on. It literally takes 5 seconds and I like seeing the different, and here's the key phrase, 'gaming related' pumpkins. Keep em coming.

Why are you guys even keeping up with Kotaku? The very reason why I've kept Kotaku in my bookmarks over the last three years is to see anything and everything that could possibly be game-related. I don't give a shit if it's just spoon with Mario's head on it, I want to see and know about it. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't even have to be "news".

If you want to just see the generic game reviews/interviews/news, there are a whole slew of that crap everywhere else on the net.

im not a realy big halo fan but im an art fan and i must say that,s one of the most detailed videogame themed pumpkin ive ever seen. that must of been a lot of hard work and strain on the digits.

Actually, I and a couple buddies of mine made a Halo 2 pumpkin during a pumpking carving in church. We didn't have the sexy Master Chief on there (just the logo), but it turned out pretty well. We won the carving contest.

It's structually impossible to carve a pumpkin that thinly and still have it hold together like that. It's photoshopped. Although, I could be wrong but I'd still put money on that thing being fake.

@Buttah: What "thin" parts are you even talking about? The only intricate part is around his visor and upper chest, and it's really not that thin. The rest is not carved through, but rather scooped out so that light shines through the remaining pulp.
Given the right tools and a solid, healthy pumpkin there's nothing even remotely approaching "impossible" about this.

If that's real then consider me amazed. I'd prefer something other than halo 3 on my pumpkin though.

@Buttah: it is actually possible, but it just wont last more then a day or two. IIRC, you can make the pumpkins stronger by putting them in a tub of cold water for a while(heres a good tips site [wls.wwco.com])

As sick of Halo posts and pictures as I am, that pumpkin is kind of cool it must have taken some hard work

h8ers be h8in. i'm rather looking forward to the gaming-related Christmas trees (and Hanukah bushes!) in a few weeks. Halloween's one of my favorite holidays anway.

just out of curiosity, hater type persons, wtf is wrong with showcasing people whose love for games reaches into creative endeavor? how is that not related? if you're hating on the cakes & the papercrafts & the pumpkins i think Kotaku may not be the place for you. because the people who write this (and thus, the only ones who really have a say) seem to like peppering their coverage of *games* with a little *fun*.

@Spew: Halloween aint infected the UK near as much as people think, the only place you find decorations these days is in card stores and places like woolworths the whole sell everything kinda place, kids dont go out because chances are they will be stabbed and mugged, and halo failed in its ending which they promised would never ever happen after 2... roll on none bungie made sequel

the Irish go to the bars and have a good sing and a good drink on Halloween like tradition says they should, i guess you could call that private, carving pumpkins handing out sweets that kinda stuff aint caught on and of course theres not many people practicing that as there where... jobs require you to work on these "holidays"

How do you even make a post about Halo that isn't game-related? That's like making a post about mashed potatoes that isn't food-related. It's just impossible.

I know it's difficult for people who don't enjoy Halo, but deal with it. It's the biggest game around, and a lot of people on here like to see this stuff. I don't care about pumpkins, but 1,853 people in less than two hours have seen fit to view it.

On another note, I think it's funny how every week we see complaints about too many Halo posts, too many Wii posts and too many PS3 posts. What else is there? That's a majority of all gaming right now.

On yet another note, I want mashed potatoes.

Not that there is anyone asking me, but I love to see this type of post. I don't read every post anymore and it is nice to have some posts that are purely a visual, whether it be a game cake or a pumpkin. I don't celebrate Halloween, I don't play Halo 3, and I don't carve pumpkins, but I still think that this is cool.
