Walt Mossberg, gadget guru extraordinaire and iPod-bitch, has posted his review of the Playstation Portable. While he says that he liked the game play capabilities of the handheld device, it's not surprising that the man who has been word-fucking the iPod and anything related to it since its release, didn't care for the PSP's movie and music capabilities. (Mossberg mentions the iPod four times in the PSP review alone, WTF?)
Mossberg says the PSP's movie and music capabilities are "hobbled by design and cost issues, at least at launch." I'm a little confused about the whole "cost issues" comment. Everything I've heard so far is that UMD movies will be the same as DVD releases or cheaper. Oh, maybe he just means that the PSP isn't an iPod and that makes him angry.
Ed's note: Having spent a scant five minutes with the PSP, I have no clue how Mossberg couldn't figure out how to pause a movie. Maybe I'm just a little more tech savy, or maybe it's because there's a friggin remote dangling from the headset with a GIANT pause button on it. Oh yeah, that's it. Note to Mossberg, like in just about every game system on the planet, the start button also pauses stuff like movies.
